Another absolutely fantastic day trip to St. Marks and St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuges this past Saturday to search for Eagles and Monarch Butterflies! Although we didn't see any Eagles, this Osprey put on a show for us, and thankfully, I was able to hold my big lens long enough to get it taking off from the perch. The butterflies are at St. Marks, but not in huge numbers. Hopefully, the cold front that's just moved through will bring them this way in larger numbers. Overall, though, a fantastic shooting day - glorious weather, lots of different bird species, some deer, several varieties of butterflies, and a couple of nice-sized gators. If you've not been down to the refuge and live in the area, you should go down and enjoy some wildlife and salt air!

Italy was a dream come true in so many regards, but the Dolomites in Northern Italy made for some incredible photo and hiking opportunities! The Alpe di Suisi, Tre Cime, and Seceda areas felt like I was walking through and photographing a movie set - so beautiful it did not even feel real! Here are a few photos from those areas. For some reason, I'm feeling nostalgic this evening and am ready to head out on some sort of photo adventure. Since I hadn't gotten around to editing many of my Iceland photos from this summer's adventure, I decided to revisit some of those fantastic memories rather than booking plane tickets. The two shots of Seljalandsfoss perfectly show the quickly changing Icelandic weather - overcast and gloomy in one shot, with flowers and sunshine in the next shot. Hope you enjoy these waterfall views from the South Coast of Iceland!

It's a been awhile, folks! Between teaching full-time and starting up a travel agent business (Book with Becky - a Travelmation Travel Agent) I've not had a whole lot of time for much photography, other than doing sports photos at school. This weekend, though, we were able to sneak down to St. Marks and St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuges Friday night and Saturday morning to spend some time in the glorious outdoors, enjoying the beautiful refuge and even more beautiful weather! The birds were showing off - here's a glimpse of the awesomeness we experienced! Hope you enjoy as much as we did!

Tonight, I'd like to share one of my absolute favorite local(ish) places to visit for photography and sheer enjoyment! I'm so blessed to live somewhere that has easy access to some incredible beaches as well as being within easy driving distance to the mountains. The past several years, we have made an annual trip to either the Smokies or the Blue Ridge Mountains. Last Fall Break, for the very first time, we actually camped at Cades Cove - Great Smokies and it was incredible! The wildlife was super photogenic and plentiful, while the fog and mist made for awesome landscape opportunities. Here are a few photos from that trip. Hope you enjoy!

Puffins - those adorable little birds that make people smile. Having been to Iceland in the winter before, I knew that I wanted to come back in the summer, and to be sure to see the puffins at their breeding grounds. Mission accomplished. We visited the Puffin Lookout in the Westman Islands and also trekked up to Borgurfjordur Eystri to see the puffins there. Both places gave us incredible sightings and photo ops. Enjoy! 🇮🇸

Some birds and views from a somewhat recent trip to back in February. If you’re around the Wakulla, Woodville, or Crawfordville area, St Marks is such a fantastic place for a day trip! The visitor center has great information as well as some fun stuff to look through, and the refuge itself has tons of hiking trails that range from super easy to fairly hard-core, with great opportunities for seeing all kinds of wildlife, and simply beautiful views. Obviously, birds are some of my favorite things to see while down there. What are some of your favorite animals to see out in the wild?

A favorite place to visit that’s not too far from home is Paynes Prairie State Park, located near Gainesville, FL. On the way home from Spring Break, we took a couple of hours to stop by and enjoy some gorgeous scenery and wildlife on the Bolen Bluff trail. No wild horses or bison this time, but we got to see some sandhill cranes, deer, a gator or two, and an adorable bunny eating supper!
