Remember how we mentioned being Emmy nominated a while back??? Well.. this happened! 🏆

We are officially Regional Emmy Award winners! (Feel free to address all future emails to “Emmy Award-Winning Production Company,” thank you.)

While we couldn’t be there in person, being recognized for our work /winning our first Emmy is a pretty amazing milestone for our team, and especially special given the project at hand!

12 years ago, straight out of school, Cameron did a Lewis Hine Documentary Fellowship at in Lowell, MA—an extraordinary organization doing relentless, life-changing work with young people. Fast forward through a decade of storytelling, and we had the privilege of coming back to make a short film about their impact.

At Vignette, we talk a lot about “the case for real”—finding human stories that build trust, foster empathy, and frankly, shoot themselves because the people behind them are so remarkable. UTEC is the definition of that.

Huge thank you to the NATAS New England chapter for the honor, to the UTEC team for letting us share a piece of their world, and to everyone who has trusted us with their stories over the years. We’re just getting started! 🎬✨

Kidding aside, being recognized for our work /winning our first Emmy is a pretty cool milestone for us, and what makes it especially special is the project itself.

We’re very excited to share that our short film “Madd Love” has been nominated for a regional Emmy!

Some info about the project: the film is a short branded documentary marks the 25th anniversary of .inc , a nonprofit youth center in Lowell, MA. UTEC helps the Merrimack Valley’s most disconnected young people move from violence and poverty to social and economic success through street outreach, education, workforce development, mental health services, and policy work. UTEC has built a brand and culture around values like never giving up on young people and bringing ‘madd love’ to everything they do.

Head over to our website to see the full version and winners will be announced this weekend (Saturday June 6th !!) so please cross your fingers and toes for us !!!

Gear appreciation post!

One of our favorite tools for interviews is the EyeDirect setup (specifically the small folding one).

There’s a real emotional impact when you can look directly into someone’s eyes as they share their story. This rig lets us have a genuine, face-to-face conversation while giving the audience the same experience.

It used to be that having a subject look directly into the lens felt like a bold move that shook the viewer up. But recently we’ve noticed that everyone is so used to eye contact from zoom calls, influencer posts, and video podcasts that the audience doesn’t think twice about it. Just another tool in the belt.
