New Grass Revival is one of my all-time favorite bluegrass bands. So it was really cool to get to meet John Cowan at this year's Rooster Walk festival. In between bands I had a moment to chat with him backstage and asked him if there was a set in particular that he was excited to see that weekend. He responded with a smile, "I'm looking forward to seeing Billy Strings live for the first time. I've listened to him but this will be the first chance I've had to see him in person." - The next day as I walked out of the photo pit during Billy's set there stood John Cowan in the crowd with a big grin on his face! So great to see the first generation of newgrass admiring the current artists bending strings and genres!
