My mom set a strong example for me as a kid of what documenting memories and photographing family looked like. We never had photos professionally done (unless you count Sears studio photos once in a while) and the reality is, I never thought that there was a such career as ‘professional photographer’. My grandma gave me my first point-and-shoot film camera when I was still in the single digits. I

thought it was the greatest thing in the world since Mom wouldn’t let me touch her shiny Canon. I spent much of my childhood and adolescent years surrounded by mismatched photo albums and have a few of my own that start with that first camera. Visit www.caseyandhercamera.com.

This account has been silent for a long time but this feels worthy of a post for those of you who missed the newsletter.

I've been wearing many hats, sometimes all at the same time, for many years now, and this year I'm hanging up my photographer hat.

Sent out the year with an intimate elopement between these two high school sweethearts.

Winding down the year with only one elopement and one session left to shoot and only a handful of things left to share. I’ll be taking the first couple of months of the year to focus on our family as Brad preps for the bar in February and if you’ve been on this journey with me long enough, we are very nearly at the end of that tunnel. 😮‍💨 2024 booking will@open via the newsletter after a nice slow start to the new year.

Is this the right time to post for the algorithm? Because it turns out posting on social media during the day (or doing anything for my job) is impossible with a house full of sick kids. Let’s hope this is the end of it. All I want for Christmas is a healthy home.

In other news, this lifestyle session was a dream to shoot. They played, read, and we captured all their favorite spaces around their home in the most gorgeous light.

It’s the season of extended family sessions for me and I’m not mad about it. Yes, I shoot posed shots for these sessions, too, but you’ll always find me sharing the real and in-between moments. It’s what I shoot for.

Always a favorite family to photograph. And as it turns out, someone is a budding little meteorologist. As they’re sitting on the porch he comments on the rain. It’s not raining and we all reassure him as such, just cloudy. He looks worried (about the rain) and moments later I feel the drops start. He couldn’t have felt them, he was under the cover of the porch, and he couldn’t have seen them because they hadn’t started yet. It was nowhere on the radar or forecast, either. He just knew. ☂️

Side note, this is reassurance that even when you think your toddler cold shouldered your photographer the entire session, we promise you they didn’t. 😉
