Thank you everyone who purchased a Turkey Trot shirt this year, the response was great and we are very excited to distribute the shirts tomorrow night at D'Arcy's Tavern in Bradley Beach! Shirt pick-up will be from 5PM-8PM, upstairs at D’Arcys! We will have extra shirts for sale but be advised it is a limited number!!

This one hurts...

All of us at the Avon Pond are heartbroken to announce that we will be unable to operate the Pond moving forward. The Avon Pond has been the beneficiary of tens of thousands of hours of volunteer efforts and endless waves of community support - the value of which could never be measured. For an undertaking like ours, the incremental challenges presented by COVID are too much for an all-volunteer, seasonal operation to tackle. Although an extremely difficult decision, it is time for all of us at the Pond to "hang up our skates".

We know that we have helped individuals and families both on and off the ice and, for that, we are grateful beyond words. Thank you for your love, thank you for your support, but most importantly, thank you for helping us to create more than a decade of fond memories - memories that, in the words of Sam Rosen, "will last a lifetime".

TURKEY TROT UPDATE!

We are receiving lots on inquiries regarding the Turkey Trot! Based on that interest, we would like to continue this healthy and fun event as a virtual run/walk. Last year (in spite of COVID-19) we were able to raise $20,000 which we donated to local charities like the Mercy Center, Mary’s Place, Fulfill, Interfaith Neighbors, the Brick Stars and Common Ground Grief Center – all of which were in great need at the height of the epidemic.

There is no shortage of similarly situated causes and people in need at this time.
If you are interested in joining us, we have created a new commemorative long-sleeved t-shirt at a cost of $20. We will distribute the shirts, as we did in the old days, at D’Arcy’s Tavern on Wednesday November 24th (Thanksgiving Eve) from 5-8 pm. All the local NHL teams are in action that night so there will be some great hockey on TV.

Simply register using the VIPLY app (the same app you used to register for the race in past years, LINK TO FOLLOW THIS POST) by Tuesday, November 16th and your shirt will be reserved for you. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you Thanksgiving Eve!!
