Photography by Brea offers on-location child, family and high school senior photography, as well as in-home newborn photography sessions. My goal is to freeze the moments that are important in my clients' lives and ensure that each person's personality is captured in the most natural, genuine way possible. One of my biggest goals, especially in working with families, is to make sure that no parent

ever dreads getting photographs taken of their children ever again. I truly believe that the experience of getting your family's photographs taken is just as important as the final product. That's why my sessions are all about allowing your family to have fun and be themselves... I'll take care of the rest! You can learn more about my sessions on my blog at http://www.photographybybrea.com/blog

I can't tell you how many times my clients have said to me, "I wish that you could just follow me around and capture some of our everyday moments."

Why?

It's because the everyday moments are the ones we want to hold onto.

Our homes are where our memories are made. It's where our kids can show their authentic selves because they're on their own turf. It's where we live every single day, and where the setting of so many stories we'll tell 20 years from now will have taken place.

It's why I love photographing in-home sessions so much.

I know, I know, I know. I can hear your thoughts from over here.

"But my house isn't a good place to photograph"
"My house is never clean."
"My house doesn't have a good backdrop for pictures."

I assure you I have photographed in all kinds of houses... and the bottom line is... YOUR HOME IS YOUR SPACE ... and whatever it looks like... it's YOURS. And that's all I'm interested in photographing.

It's not about Pinterest-worthy decor or perfectly cleaned windows... it's literally about being whoever you are (no judgement.) And most importantly... it's about getting a set of pictures back that don't look like someone else's Pinterest board... they look like YOU.

I am offering just *TWO* of these up-to-one-hour, at-home sessions in the Pittsburgh area in February or March at a special winter rate. So if you want to skip the traditional gift to your spouse and do this instead for a Valentine's Day gift to each other... or if you've simply been saying over and over how much you need an update to your family photo archives... I'm ready to help you out.

Head over to my contact form and let me know that you want to know more... or drop any questions you have below. I can't wait to connect with you!

For my Cleveland clients... Corie is a brilliant photographer and is doing a really awesome thing for some families this year. If you or someone you know is having a rainbow baby... check out this beautiful gesture ❤️

*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2019*

I have been so lucky in many aspects of my life. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful kids … and this little photography business has become more than I ever thought possible. It all brings such joy to my every day.

But sometimes I feel the pull to do more. I meet such amazing people through my work, some with such heartbreaking stories of loss. And so I find myself at a point where I am able to give back to some of these families who have lost so much while trying to bring a sweet baby into this world.

I am so proud to introduce my RAINBOW BABY INITIATIVE for 2019. Every month, I will be selecting one family and gifting them a Rainbow Baby Newborn Session (more details on my website via the link below).

Just in case you haven’t heard the term ‘Rainbow Baby,’ it is a baby who is welcomed into a family after the loss of a previous baby, due to miscarriage, stillbirth or premature birth. These babies are the light after the darkness ... the rainbow after the storm.

I welcome you to tag and share this post with anyone you think might enjoy this gift session. Families will be selected approximately 6-8 weeks before the month or their due date, so applications need to be in as early as possible. I expect a large interest in my Initiative, so please understand that I might not be able to respond to everyone.

Again, please share this initiative! I can’t wait to give these families amazing images to cherish, while also raising awareness surrounding pregnancy and infant loss.

Photographs: they are story-starters.

20 years from now when we're gathered around the holiday appetizers looking through old photo albums, it's the pictures that will start the stories. We'll tell our 20-something daughter how much she loved dancing in the living room as we look at her in her ballet costume she wore every day. We'll tell our son how much he was attached to his mom's hip when he was four and our baby how she took her devilish grin wherever she went.

The best stories? They happen at home. In the in-between moments when we're playing on the living room floor, when our toddler is helping us start the coffee maker, when a spontaneous dance party opens up in the kitchen or when you're having a snowball fight in the back yard.

And I want to help you give the gift of documenting THAT.

I am offering THREE special in-home family sessions in January or February (only!) at a discounted rate. It looks a little something like this:

$325+ tax
-- 45 minute sessions
-- In your home... simply documenting your family exactly as you are doing what you love to do
-- full printing rights to all final images
-- Emailed Gift Certificate (by Christmas Eve) that you can print on your own to give to your loved one
-- must be within 15 miles of Pittsburgh
-- Session must be held in January or February and not applicable for a newborn session

You want to give them something that MEANS something... and I'd love to help you do that. My email is in the comments! I look forward to the chance to be a part of your holiday giving!

Hey! Remember me? :) I know it's been a long time since you've heard from me... but as many of you know, earlier this summer my family and I officially moved to Pittsburgh.

It has been a whirlwind of a last couple of months as we've settled into our new life here ... and with that... I have to confess that my photographer heart is aching a little bit from not being behind the lens.

So while I will not be taking on a full photography schedule for the remainder of 2018 ... I carved out just a few dates over the next couple of months that I will be available for smaller sessions ... and I would love to see/meet some of you here in the Burgh!

The details are here ... I look forward to the chance to work with you and help you build your family photo archives ❤️

Hello friends! I am so excited to officially be a Pennsylvanian again as my family and I have relocated to Pittsburgh! I am SO looking forward to con

An important reminder, fellow mamas... let's keep freeing ourselves of the fear of how we look in front of a camera, and embrace how beautiful we look when we are connecting with our families, ourselves and our lives.

Gah, this picture makes me so mad. Those are my husband’s hairy legs and white feet lounging poolside. We were on a big family trip to Florida for Christmas. His uncle was kind enough to cran…

Few things bring me more joy as a photographer than getting to have the people in my tightest inner circle on the other end of my lens.

This regal, soon-to-be mama and I used to catch salamanders together as 8 year olds, sneak out as teenagers (sorry moms) and navigate college life together as roommates.

To now get to share in the journey of motherhood is the gift of a lifetime.

And getting to call her “mom” will be one of this baby’s greatest blessings.

Because as beautiful as she is in this photo ... her love, her passion, her wisdom, her kindness and her desire to be this baby’s mother paints an even more gorgeous image that this tiny human will get to carry with him/her for a lifetime.

See you soon, sweet baby.

And I see you, friend... and motherhood couldn’t look more beautiful on you. ❤️

I haven’t been taking nearly enough pictures of my kids lately.

Lucky for me, this sums up the personality my little lady has grown into over the last three months . The hair placement. The leftover lunch on her face. The joy. The sass. (Oh the sass)

When my mind goes back to memories of this season of life - this is how I’ll think of her. And I’ll smile and shake my head every time.

My daughter always likes to ask me who/what I'm photographing when I head out the door for a session. Is it a baby? A family? How many kids? Boys or girls? How old are they.

Yesterday, when I told her I was heading out to photograph a mama with a baby in her belly for the second time, she says, "I can't wait to see how cute the baby is!"

I said - "Well, we can't see the baby yet, but we are going to take a picture of what the mama looks like while she's growing the baby. Remember how much you like looking at pictures of mommy when you were in her belly? Now this little girl will have those pictures too."

And as I turned and walked out the door ... I had a little "first session of the new year" moment.

What a job I have.

What a beautiful blessing it has been to be trusted to capture these seasons of life that are SO IMPORTANT and SO MEANINGFUL and SO SPECIAL for these families.

And just how cool it is that a little contraption I hold in my hand can create a little time capsule... so that this sweet baby who hasn't even been introduced to the world yet, can see what it was like before she was.

With our kids at adorable ages this holiday season, I'm on a mission to soak in every little moment and feel the magic right along with them. And we are so grateful to Crocker Park for sponsoring our holiday outing this year ... and being the perfect stage on which to experience the wonder of the season, while taking home some perspective about the joy that can happen when you see the holiday through the eyes of a child.

*Thank you to Crocker Park/Stark Enterprises for sponsoring this post and our holiday outing this year. All words, opinions and perspectives remain my own, friends! *

The mama of these four kiddos just kills it. Four beautiful kids in four different times of their life... going about it with four very distinct, beautiful personalities. And she’s right there in the middle of it all. Letting them go off and shine for who they are, but always being right there to come back to when they need it.

One of the best things I ever did for myself as a photographer is have my own family photos taken. Because I got to “feel” all that it takes for a family to just simply GET to the session. Coordinating work schedules. Getting the kids ready and somehow finding time to get myself ready. Stressing over coordinating clothes for the family and finding something that I felt good in myself. Praying that it would all come together and we would somehow miraculously make it to the session on time barring no major meltdowns. And that the kids would cooperate so I could get some memorable photographs for our archives.

By looking at this pic - you’d never know this mama sent me a text on the way to the session letting me know about all of those curveballs she was thrown in the hour before stepping out the door. And it's not the first text of its kind that I've received from a client. By far.

My note to her “What will be tonight will be! Do your best to let go of control and let me take over. I’ve got your back.”

And a huge kudos to this crew - because they left the stress behind and just “let it be.” We had such a great time together with a lot of laughs... and came out with some pretty great images in the end.

Parents: I know you do so much just to get to your sessions. All of the organizing. Trips to the mall. Switching out options laid out on your bed. Running back to the store when you realize the shoes you planned for the youngest no longer fit. Doing your hair while the babes beg for snacks. Praying no one spills on an outfit as you walk out the door... and that today’s the day that no one decides to bring their wrath.

THANK YOU for all of it.

Thank you for trusting me to take it from there. For showing up. And giving me a chance to show you all that is beautiful about what you are as a family when we can leave chaos off to the side.

And give yourself a pat on the back... because by choosing to show up ... you are giving yourself and your kids the gift of memories.

Ones that you will pull out of the archives at their high school graduations and weddings...

Times when the chaos of the hours before the session will have already long disappeared from your memory... with only the memory of what truly mattered still left behind ❤️
