My work with Austin Art in Public Places Program is up! The installation is titled "Kindness Doesn't Cost Anything" and consists of 6 glass panels printed with images I shot during my Artist's Residency with Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.
This has been the longest (3+ years!) and the biggest (7ft tall!) project I've worked on yet. Big thanks to my Austin Art in Public Places Program project manager Marjorie Flanagan, to Nick Schnitzer for the installation work, Noah Wight for the lighting design, and all the medics with whom I rode out and peppered with a million questions.
Austin friends, you can see the work at EMS stations 2 (Menchaca Road), 8 (Balcones Drive), and 11 (McCarty Lane). Go after dark to see the the panels when they are backlit with LED lights.
And, next time you see a medic, thank them for taking care of our community. They truly are the seams that hold us together. Also, wash your hands.
Congrats to AIPP artist Laura Hajar! πππ
