This fall I shot two weddings at the Grand Lady, one week apart.
Same place, same light, same walls and halls. I worried they might blur together.
They didn’t.

The reason and the space can be the same, but every wedding moves to its own rhythm. The energy shifts. The people ebb and flow. Everyone arrives carrying their own beat.

Getting married last year might’ve been the best thing that ever happened for my work. I’ve photographed over a hundred weddings, but something changed once I stood there as a groom. I felt the slow build—the quiet hum before it all breaks open. Friends and family circling, buzzing with anticipation.

A wedding day is jazz.

All the players show up with their own instruments, their own way of playing. The beat starts early and once it’s on, it’s on. We’re playing jazz now baby. People moving. Flowers flying. Dresses pressed sharp, suits dialed in. Drinks pouring. Music bleeding into every corner.

We find the rhythm. We take turns soloing. I’m there to catch it all. Bottling the sound of memory.

It’s all happening now. This moment only. The cork pops and life fizzes over. These are the golden days—right here, right now.
