There's one wardrobe mistake that ruins more headshots than bad lighting does. Patterns.

A fine stripe, a small check, a bold graphic print - on camera, they create what photographers call moiré: a visual vibration that pulls attention away from your face and toward your shirt. It photographs as noise. It makes a polished portrait look like a snapshot.

The fix is simple: solid colors almost always photograph better. Navy, charcoal, white, burgundy, camel- colors that complement your skin tone without competing with it.

How long a session actually takes

Family sessions: 60-90 minutes. Maternity: 90 minutes. Bo***ir: 1-1,5 hours. Newborn: 2-4 hours, always on the baby’s schedule.

Clients ask if we can do it faster. Yes, technically. But faster sessions produce stiffer photos. The first 20 minutes are almost entirely settling, getting comfortable, finding the right energy, letting the kids decide we’re not threatening.

The magic doesn’t show up until everyone forgets there’s a camera. That takes time.

There's a session from last year I almost asked the client to reschedule.

She was sick that morning. Her two-year-old had been up all night. Her husband had a work emergency. Every reasonable signal said to push it.

She came anyway. The photos are some of the best work I've done in the last five years.

Not because everything went smoothly. Because she just stopped trying to be perfect and let me do my job. The toddler crashed in her arms halfway through, and that's the favorite image in the entire gallery.

The sessions that almost don't happen are often the ones that matter most.
