New Work: Texas Highways
Small town, Tx - Pampa, to be exact, a very small town, east of Amarillo, has a special place in history. Woody Guthrie of "This Land is our Land" fame, moved to Texas during the dustbowl in 1929 at the tender age of 18. He worked at Harris drugstore where he found an abandoned guitar in the stairwell and taught himself to play and write music.
Fast forward almost 100 years and Harris drug store still stands, though these days it's a museum in honor of Pampa's most famous resident. The curator, Michael Sinks, a musician himself and a devoted fan and historian of the Guthrie's legacy hosts a Friday night sing and play along. Musicians come from all over the area to play and learn from each other. For a small cover charge you can head on over on Friday night and check it out.

New Work: AARP
Erika Salee has always known that she was destined to serve. After retiring from the Air Force she went to school for physical therapy where she fell in love with neurological therapies for trauma victims. Fast forward, Erika joined forces with her mother and started Readiness Group, which specializes in resiliency training for first responders. In recent years, more and more first responders have succumbed to the overwhelming pressures and trauma of their day to day jobs. The trauma can be debilitating for some, between their home and work life. The trauma, can lead to dependencies, anxiety, depression, and potentially su***de. Readiness Group, trains department heads, to train their entire staff to be present for their cohorts and support them everyday. The staff learns how to spot when someone might be having trouble, or ask the right questions so that first responder can unload at the end of their shift. Readiness Group aims to establish approachable and natural pathways to empower victims of trauma to easily access mental and neurological support. The goal is that noone has to live with trauma alone.
Resiliency.
She’s a hero.

New(ish) Work last winter's personal project.
Neighbors. I love my little corner of the works, we're on the outside corner of a drive through street. Here Sarah sits right across the street from my driveway pointed west. This is a Sunday morning, early. All of my neighbors loved the time of day, you'll see in future posts. 🤣
The goal for this project is to capture the people on my street I see often or sometimes not often enough. People move in and people move on. kids grow up and things change. These are my neighbors the winter of 2023.
The Hsia's were the second family I photographed for this project. We've been 1 door apart for more than 10 years, we've known each other well for sometime. I have photographed her kids on this day and many times before. This is Oliver Hsia, he is the same age and grade as my son they used to be best buddies, but they're in high school now pursuing different interests. Flip to the end of the carousel to see sweet Ollie as a kindergartener. His brother Connor graduates in a few months, he'll be fully launched and things are going to change again.
I'm so thankful to have been able to capture this time and this place.

Connor graduates in a few months and he'll be fully launched and things are going to change again.

New Work: Texas Highways
Amarillo, Tx has soaring population of refugees from around the world. The city has benefited in a number of ways to the influx. Not the least of which is the food scene. The culinary variety on offer in Amarillo rivals that of major cities all around the state. Texas Highways featured a couple local spots in their November 2023 issue. The first is a pizza dive on the outskirts of town, serving up traditional Albanian kebabs, an ode to the owners, Valbona and Bill Haliti’s Albanian roots.
