A new chapter in Austin’s history has been written.
For 100 years, this place has stood here, quietly witnessing the transformation of the city. For generations of Austinites, Dirty Martin’s Place has been a familiar constant. Like so many local institutions, it once came close to disappearing. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, it is now celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Dirty Martin’s also holds a special place in my heart.
When I was trying to organize the very first Austin Photo Walkers meetup, finding a venue was much harder than I expected. After hearing “no” more times than I could count and running into plenty of closed doors, Dirty Martin’s welcomed us without hesitation and generously offered us a place to gather.
That simple act of kindness gave me hope. It reminded me that building a community was possible, and it reinforced my belief in the strength of local businesses and the people who support them.
Congratulations on 100 years, Dirty Martin’s Place. Here’s to many more!!
