SH2-142 the wizard nebula.
the red version is the natural colors. the blue/orange version is using a process that brings out the various gases in the nebula with teh orangish being hydrogen and teh blueish oxygen.

a total of 14 1/2 hours of data from my remote telescope in the hill country

IC 1396 the elephant trunk nebula. Located about 2400 light years away the nebula is a site of new star formation with some stars being only 100,000 years old or so.

this is one of the longest exposures ive ever done. 30 hours of data in my backyard. processed to bring out the colors of the hydrogen and oxygen in the nebula.

a flower in space ,SH2-101 the tulip nebula,located about 6000 light years away. in the second image the circle is around a binary system. the bright star and its companion are orbiting each other although the companion cant be seen. thats becasueits the first discovered black hole called cygnus x-1. the system is one of the strongest emitters of x-rays ever found. it is located about 7300 light years from earth.
this is a total of 26 hours of exposure in my backyard.

M101 the pinwheel galaxy.
located about 22 million light years away the galaxy is very large,3x the size of teh milky way and contains about a trillion stars.

NGC 2359 known ad the thors helmet nebula
about 12,000 light years away the nebula is a cloud of gas spit out from a very hot bright star a the center known as a wolf rayet star. the star has a surface temperature many time that of the sun as rather then fusing hydrogen into helium its fusing helium and heavier elements into even heavier ones before it turns into a supernova at some time in the future.
This is 15 hours of exposure in my backyard
