One of the best decisions you can make for both your guests and your photographs is to schedule your reception toasts before dinner is served or after everyone has finished eating.

Not only does this help avoid photographs of guests (and the two of you) eating during such an important part of the evening, but it also allows everyone to be fully present for the people standing up to celebrate your story.

Your loved ones have taken the time to thoughtfully prepare their words. Giving them your full attention creates a more meaningful experience for everyone involved—and often leads to some of the most heartfelt, joy-filled photographs.

Some of the most joyful photographs happen when the unexpected makes an appearance...

A gust of Texas wind, paper parasols dancing through the air, and a bridesmaid laughing because all there was left to do was laugh and embrace the moment.

While we'll absolutely create beautiful portraits together, I always leave space for the in-between moments—the laughter after the pose, the wind that catches your dress, the hugs, the glances, and the moments no one could have planned.

Sometimes the weather becomes part of the story.

Those are often the photographs that bring you right back to how it all felt.

Documenting meaningful detail photographs is one of the ways I love weaving your personality into your wedding gallery.

It's often my first quiet moment to slow down, take everything in, and begin telling the story of your wedding day through your meaningful details.

The heirloom jewelry. The engagement ring. The invitation suite. The perfume you wore. And sometimes... a handful of gummy bears because they make you smile.

I love incorporating personal touches that reflect your personality and the story only the two of you can tell. Whether it's a favorite treat, a family heirloom, handwritten vows, or elements inspired by your wedding venue, these tiny details become part of your love story.

If creative detail photographs are important to you, I always recommend gathering everything in one box before the wedding day so it's ready when I arrive. This gives us the time to create thoughtful, intentional images without feeling rushed and allows the freedom to create something uniquely yours.

Some of my favorite photographs aren't planned...

They're the laughter shared across the table, the quiet conversations, the warm embraces, and the little glances exchanged when no one realizes they're being photographed... or when they do, and simply remain present—unposed and real.

These are the moments that make a wedding weekend so meaningful, and they're some of my favorite memories to document as a wedding photographer.
