Love doesn’t wait for us to put ourselves together. Love gathers us in, just as we are. As moms, we thrive at loving our families with this transformative way of love. But what about the way we love ourselves? Can we accept our messy middle? Can we even take it a step further and celebrate it, honoring the beauty present as we are continually becoming? Before we’ve figured out how to keep our house clean, or redirect the fights before they start. Before we’ve learned how to get the laundry done, finish that thought, make dinner, and not be late for carpool. Because what if we never get it all figured out? What if there are always things left undone? We take a photograph to say, “look at us!” It’s a physical act to remember a moment that feels worth remembering. “LOOK AT YOU!” This moment, yes, even this one. You may just have to trust me: you’re going to want evidence of this, too.
