—I am stoked to be launching a few exciting things here in the near future, including a rebranded site with almost entirely new content. I am pouring my heart into it and can’t wait to share it. Matt and I will also be sharing a little project of our in the coming weeks—any guesses what it could be?? ✨

—this spontaneous trip to Big Sur came during a busy season and it was oh so sweet to my soul. Janelle is one of the most humble friends I have known. She is also one incredible singer, too (though she’d never admit it of course). Here are a few precious photographs from this set that I am so thankful to have—and, though she has no plans to drop a hit single, I half-seriously told her I’ve already picked out its cover

—while we we’re exploring this favorite spot for these two we came across this hill from afar and knew we had to go down to it. It was just too perfectly placed in front of the expanse of these lil Cali mountains. I just love the feeling of being overwhelmed by the vastness of it. We were losing light so we ran our way down and, fun fact, saw a large tarantula on the path on the way back up 😳...but that’s part of the adventure of it, right?

— I’m not sure who needs to hear this, but don’t let starting stop you from creating.

Some backstory - I tend be a big dreamer, but, after calculating the risk / possible challenges that may happen, I fail to execute on most of my dreams. The fear of failing often paralyzes my motivation before I even start something (would you believe that even this caption is on it’s 5th iteration...clearly still working on this!! 🙃). But the past few months I’ve started letting myself be free to start...and fail - a lot.

Taking portraits of these two in California was a step towards embracing that freedom to create, not bound by a pressure for it to meet an (or my) unrealistic expectation. Looking at the photographs now, I see that feeling of freedom and I can’t help but smile.

— a few of my favorite moments from this idyllic set. I cannot wait to share more from this vision that we brought to life. Any guesses what state we took these photos in?? (hint—it’s probably not what you’d think)

Also - speaking of states - Matt and I have been spending time with family all over the country this past month and are excited to share that we plan to settle down in central Texas for the duration of this year (!!). We still have some flexibility in our schedules to travel so if you’re getting married in TX or are considering eloping out of state now’s the best time to reach out ✌️

—contentment is something to be learned

To say Marlin and Bethany’s day looked different than they planned it to be would be an understatement. Though, despite the circumstances, their peace and joy saturated the day so sweetly. Having been friends with them for some time now, this didn’t surprise us one bit, as we’ve watched them grow in contentment in God in everything.

Besides, stripping away some of the fluff of the day gave room to focus on why we were there (I mean, look at Marlin’s expression in the second pic).

Thank you Marlin and Bethany for demonstrating Philippians 4 so clearly.
