i’ve been going through my page and archiving most, if not all, posts where the main image prominently shows a baby, child, or minor
and over the next little while i’ll be doing the same thing with my website and facebook
with everything that has come to light through the epstein files, and honestly just the amount of completely unregulated predatory s**t that continues to exist on the internet, i’ve reached a point where i’m simply not comfortable contributing to it by having identifiable photos of children publicly displayed on my business pages
there may still be occasional images where a child is photographed from farther away, turned to the side, from behind, or otherwise not easily identifiable because i do still want families to be able to see the kind of work i create
but recognizable portraits of children are something i’m going to be much more intentional about sharing moving forward
it’s unfortunate because it means a lot of work that i absolutely love won’t live publicly on my portfolio anymore, but in the grand scheme of things that really doesn’t matter to me
the children and families who trust me to photograph them matter infinitely more than having content to post
(and considering i am quite possibly the world’s worst photographer when it comes to actually posting the photos i take, i don’t think the algorithm is going to notice much of a difference anyway 😂)
seriously though, i have YEARS worth of beautiful sessions i’ve never posted because apparently taking the pictures, editing the pictures, delivering the pictures AND remembering to make content out of the pictures is simply asking too much of me
maybe one day i’ll finally hire someone to do that part for me lol
but for now i’m doing a pretty massive cleanup and overhaul of what i’m comfortable having publicly available
beautiful work is beautiful work, but protecting the people in it matters more 🧡
