Today was astonishing for me! I watched every moment I could of the live transmission from Artemis 2 as it flew around the moon. I marveled at the imagery, science, descriptions and bravery of the astronauts. Through interactive maps and data from NASA I felt like I was there in the Orion capsule. I can’t wait to see what the astronauts send back. To say I experienced MOON JOY is an understatement.
If you know me you know how much I LOVE THE MOON! I have been staring at it since I was a baby in my momma’s arms swinging in the front yard oak tree swing in San Antonio. She said my second word was Moon. Just after the word Momma. We used to say I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK! I wish she was here to see this. Even though she isn’t. There are so many women and men looking up from Earth tonight in awe of the women of NASA who are leading this mission. Artemis indeed.
I have been photographing the moon since 2017 when I picked up a camera again. Mostly, so I could decompress from my hectic days and hang out with my frail kitty Lux on the front porch. It has lead me to so many adventures with my camera… chasing the next moonrise with friends that share my passion, eclipses in new places, landscapes as far as Mexico and as near as my backyard, and so many weird and wonderful experimental views.
I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I’m going to keep LOOKING UP to see what I can see. I’m gonna text my friends about where we are going next and I’m going to delight in receiving all the text from family and friends that ask every full moon if I’m seeing what they are because they know I’m out looking at the Moon and it keeps us all connected.
