Ann Alva Wieding Photography Creative Portrait & Music Photographer I run a client-friendly, service-oriented business and I value working closely with my clients to gain their perspective.

I am a local Austin freelance photographer specializing in people, places and events with an artistic eye and the ability to capture the magic moments in life. I then use my abundant creativity and observational skills to translate that desire into a potent and visually-pleasing imagery. Every spring, I work directly for the SXSW Atmosphere Photography team documenting the daily events for social

media, Day in Pictures, SXSW World Magazine, all marketing campaigns and licensing. I also regularly document events for art, nature and educational organizations such as Art Alliance Austin, The University of Texas Blanton Museum of Art, The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, The Austin Library, Creatives Meet Business and General Assembly. Additionally, I am the in-house photographer for Space Rehearsal & Recording and Overseas Artist Management, regularly creating digital visual content for their media outlets and represented artists.

I caught a tiger by the tale! A Perseid meteor streaking right through the Milky Way. At first I thought the conditions were not ideal for a totally clear night with wildfire smoke drifting down the Columbia River Gorge and light pollution coming in from Portland on the west and Hood River on the east. Not to mention the party atmosphere at Vista House at Crown Point with cars coming and going. But in the end it made for some "gorge"ous color cast in my first Astrophotography picture I felt worthy of posting.

It's always an adventure here in the PNW! Especially, when racing through windy roads looking for the next vista with my running buddy Outer Elements Photography

We went to one of our fav spots to watch the full moon rise at Pittock Mansion just to be kicked out right before it happened. Apparently, the gates get locked to the parking lot at 9pm whether it's a full moon night or not. There were a whole lot of grumbly people leaving minutes before it happened. So we went to a further secret locations to bask in the buttery Buck Moon light, marvel at moon shadows, miniature Portland below and discuss the universe and all its wonders.

It’s finally here! My 1st Album design! It was so much fun working on this project with Thumb Things I shot the photos, updating the logo and followed their ideas till we land on the right look and feel. I also discover that my longtime friends from Maine are secret rock stars. They blew me away with their incredible songs recorded Space ATX . Twas an honor sirs. Project completion is where the dopamine is at.

I had a lady Monarch visit me yesterday in the garden. This is super unusual for July. I quickly grab my camera and fired off about 150 snaps. She flitted around for about 20 minutes and got her fill of my sunflowers. She wasn’t shy either, floating by me several times. After she was gone, I quickly uploaded it to iNaturalist because I figured there were some scientists out there that might be interested in her visitation this time of year. Has anybody else seen any Monarchs recently?

Today was astonishing for me! I watched every moment I could of the live transmission from Artemis 2 as it flew around the moon. I marveled at the imagery, science, descriptions and bravery of the astronauts. Through interactive maps and data from NASA I felt like I was there in the Orion capsule. I can’t wait to see what the astronauts send back. To say I experienced MOON JOY is an understatement.

If you know me you know how much I LOVE THE MOON! I have been staring at it since I was a baby in my momma’s arms swinging in the front yard oak tree swing in San Antonio. She said my second word was Moon. Just after the word Momma. We used to say I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK! I wish she was here to see this. Even though she isn’t. There are so many women and men looking up from Earth tonight in awe of the women of NASA who are leading this mission. Artemis indeed.

I have been photographing the moon since 2017 when I picked up a camera again. Mostly, so I could decompress from my hectic days and hang out with my frail kitty Lux on the front porch. It has lead me to so many adventures with my camera… chasing the next moonrise with friends that share my passion, eclipses in new places, landscapes as far as Mexico and as near as my backyard, and so many weird and wonderful experimental views.

I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I’m going to keep LOOKING UP to see what I can see. I’m gonna text my friends about where we are going next and I’m going to delight in receiving all the text from family and friends that ask every full moon if I’m seeing what they are because they know I’m out looking at the Moon and it keeps us all connected.

I’m welcoming The Year of the Fire Horse with open arms! Without going into too much about my private life, I can definitively say it’s been a hell of a year and a lot of layers have been shed 🐍! As I work towards regaining my strength 💪🏻, I feel a lot of gratitude towards my friends and family who have been my rocks 🪨🤘🏻. I also deeply cherish myself for all my fortitude, humor and grace to have made it this far in life.

Enough of the deep 💩! Here are some pretty horse pics I took last spring of preggers mama horse Ruth. She was sassy, sparkly and full of ‘tude and was a riot to work with.
