It’s time for a re-introduction💞
Hiii, my name is Kiah (ky-ah). I started photography in high school and always knew that I wanted to be a photographer. Back then I was in photography & yearbook classes, and then my senior year I got to start learning photography at my local Vo-Tech school, which is still where I learned most of my fundamentals. That’s where we really went in depth with Lightroom and Photoshop.
After that, I studied art in college with an emphasis in photography. I have ADHD, and college was very hard for me, so I took all the photography classes I could before dropping out🤪 Those classes included photography history, which is near and dear to my heart.
One of my biggest inspirations is Julia Margaret Cameron. I actually did a whole project on her in college, and I love her approach to less traditional portraits and using imperfections to strengthen her art (alchemy 🪄). I love how her images evoke feeling, and I feel like that’s what I’ve always strived to do with my work.
As for modern-day photographers who inspire me, my number one is Petra Collins! I love seeing women continue to shape what was once a very male-dominated field.
My love of photography history has led me to appreciate the aesthetics of many different photography eras, which I now love being able to offer through Super 8 video, camcorder video, 35mm film, alongside digital photography. I think there’s something so special about keeping those mediums alive, and the analog process helps me appreciate this art form on a deeper level.
As for myself and a few little things about me:
• I’m 30 years old
• I have a Yorkie and a bunny (looove animals)
• I love to cook
• I love to travel
• I love all things mystical ✨
• I love Greek mythology
• I love learning about science, psychology, and quantum physics 🤓
I love my job because I love connecting with other people deeply and being able to capture some of the most celebrated events of their lives. Connecting with cultures of all kinds and helping keep those traditions alive through photographs is something I consider a sacred calling. 🤍🎞️
