For this dreamy engagement session, K&G invited me to the the historic gateway to Big Bend National Park - the iconic Gage Hotel in the Chihuahuan Desert region of West Texas. I reveled in using every nook and cranny of the resort property for the two hour session.

I always wanted to go to Big Bend, but living in Dallas, it just seemed so far away. Now that I’m based in Central Texas, it’s an easy weekend trip! The scenery was gorgeous the whole drive changing from hill country to mountain range. I even fit in a sunrise hike at the Santa Elena Canyon, and stood where the Rio Grande splits Texas from Chihuahua. What a privilege.

K&G, thank you for letting me photograph you in this place that’s so dear to you. The wedding is going to be beautiful, I know it!

When the sleep deprivation subsides you will ache for these days. One thing you’ll never regret is photos with your newborn. Not just photos OF your newborn, but photos of the way they fit so teensy in your arms, your fresh face, before it’s settled into this new change. You’ll understand when you get there. I promise.

Photography is a luxury but don’t skip out on the six month milestone if you can! The growth from newborn babies to six months is huge, and once they’re mobile it’s a fast track to toddlerhood. If I think about it too much, I’ll cry, so I’ll stop here and leave with you with 20 of my favorites from this six month baby and family session.
