Yes, AL Gawlik Photography is still photographing weddings. And yes, we are absolutely crushing it.
But something has shifted.
After more than 16 years of photographing weddings, I've found myself wanting to get back to the heart of why I started doing this in the first place.
The stories. The people. The raw, unscripted, beautifully imperfect moments that actually mean something.
I am becoming more intentional about the weddings I take on, the couples I work with, and the stories we choose to tell.
More intimate weddings. More meaningful connections. More real moments.
Less pressure to create the perfect wedding for social media. Less worrying about what everyone else is doing. Less production, more presence.
Because somewhere along the way, weddings became about timelines, trends, elaborate details, and putting on a show.
And while those things can be beautiful, they're not what makes a wedding matter.
A wedding is supposed to be about two people choosing each other. It's about the people who helped shape their lives, the hands that hold them, the tears nobody expected, the laughter that interrupts a speech, the quiet glances across a crowded room, and the overwhelming feeling of being surrounded by love.
It's about the beginning of a marriage, not just the production of a wedding day.
That's what I want to photograph.
The messy, the emotional, the wildly beautiful, the unplanned. The moments you didn't even realize were happening until you see them in a photograph years later.
I am not stepping away from weddings. I am leaning further into the ones that remind us why we fell in love with documenting them.
Back to storytelling. Back to connection. Back to what matters.
And I couldn't be more excited about this chapter of AL Gawlik Photography.
