Hi. I’m Sarah!

I often think about what it would mean for my grandpa to see where I am today. He traveled the world with a camera always close by, quietly documenting places and moments as he went. Now I am the one holding hundreds of his slides, pieces of his life preserved in color and light. Every time I make art, I feel his influence. The way he noticed the world still shows up in how I photograph it.

My story is shaped by more than images alone. There are letters my grandma wrote to my mom and documents that trace our family’s journey from Europe, small but powerful records of where we come from. I tried to step away from photography more than once, thinking I should become something else, but I always found my way back to the camera.

Fun fact: I studied photography in college, with a minor in art history at Columbia College Chicago and Indiana University. I know this love for photography will not end here. One day, I hope to pass these images and stories down to my kids, so they can understand their history and see how much memory can live inside a photograph.
