The fire. The hearth. The wild, tender, dangerous heart beat. It's so primal and raw. It helps us tap into our ancestral roots, remember our animal nature, and connect to the earth and in each other in a powerful way.

I have never been with fire with only sisters. The fire feels like a man's domain to me. Collecting the wood, creating the flame, stoking it as it grows, feeding it as it burns feverishly consuming every ounce of fuel with an unquenchable desire... almost always the men are in charge of this sacred duty, even though I believe it is the feminine who is truly ruler of the flame.

And for our dance it's just us. Us and the fire. Us and the destruction and creation. Us and those hot flames licking at our skin. The heat pressing against our bodies, sending warmth to our womb spaces.

And we'll dance for the flame, and for each other, and for ourselves.

We'll witness our femininity and harness our masculinity and remember that we're safe - we have the power of the flame inside of us at all times.

I'm so excited to commune with you and with the fire.

Buy your tickets and tell your friends. This is going to be so special, and I want to share this with you more than I can rightly express.

Mmm this is good, and it really is a long journey. I started my active shadow work, trauma work, healing journey, eight years ago and I still struggle with some heavy things. I've grown immensely - an inner strength that my depression and trauma loop told me I'd never achieve has washed over me, soaked into me, reinforced my bones like steel, lined my stomach with insulation, and fortified my heart. But the little girl inside me is still seeking solace, tenderness, support, validation, love, stability, integrity, honesty - and she wants these things to be from external sources.

The reason a lot of people won't become who they want is because they're too attached to who they've been.

And you hear it all the time when people say, "I've always been that way." Okay, well if that's working for you, keep doing that.

But I knew it wasn't working for me any longer. I had hit my version of rock bottom...That day what shifted for me. was willing to completely die to any form of me that I had been so that I can birth the person that I was becoming.

I was willing to let go of everything and everybody.

Another reason people won't get there is because the doorway is for YOU to fit through. And yet you're trying to carry everybody else through 'cause you're trying to save everyone, but you gotta rescue yourself first.

I am much more valuable to my family and to my community because I was willing to let them go.

To go through the door myself, teach myself, learn myself, condition myself, and then come back and get them.

I'm much more valuable to them now, but I had to go through a window time of 10 years of judgment... I had to be willing to allow my conviction to make me an inconvenience.

See, we wanna grow but we want to all stay liked by everybody. I was willing to be my own rescue at the risk of your approval. Most of us aren't like that.

Well, I woke up and liked myself today so your like is extra. My job is to like me first. I was willing to say everyday, "Lisa, you like you?" "Lisa, are you proud of you?"
"Lisa are you planned full out?"

Everyday before I checked in with anybody else.

What is shadow work? Working with your unconscious mind to uncover the parts of yourself that you repress and hide from yourself. This can include trauma or parts of your personality that you subconsciously consider undesirable or edgy.

A Shadow and Soul photo session consists of a consultation to discover what parts are to be explored and expressed, an intentional and curated session designed to help you integrate your shadow, and an after-care reflection space to process and be held or verbalize your experience.

Winter Kane has been an energy and shadow worker her whole life, but began consciously practicing eight years ago with solo exposure therapy. She's explored many different therapy modalities, has attended and facilitated various death and birth ceremonies and sacred ritual spaces, she's certified in reiki, and has a giant tool chest for helping you integrate your full self.

Sick of "Positive Vibes Only?" Explore your shadow side and do your shadow work with a photo session processing trauma and stepping out of the light and into the shadow.
