Almost every couple tells me āWeāre a little awkward in front of the camera.ā And Iām like, āyeah weāll see about that in a second.ā As I prepare to uplift and give ALL the encouragement. Hereās the thought processā¦.
I can totally empathize with feeling awkward in front of the camera. In fact, I personally donāt like having my picture taken at all. During the session, Iāll guide you through a few simple prompts, and show you tons of photos from the back of the camera. That way, you can review, share preferences, and relax knowing your portraits are taken care of. Weāll take the poses you love and feel comfortable with, then build on them as we go along.
Most of the time, this is our first opportunity to get to know each other in a casual setting with the camera present. I love to feel connected in the session, so one of my favorite things is listening to couples share their stories, and I sincerely get excited for the wedding day when we talk about your plans. Plus I get to answer questions, offer recommendations, and provide guidance along the way.
I donāt expect anyone to be an experienced model, but I promise we will have fun creating some art together. Remember to breathe, embrace the nature of the portraits, and just be willing to spend restful time together. Photography is a luxury, itās meant to feel enjoyable, immersive, and uplifting.
