Was a photo I took last month while hanging around in Austin. Despite living in Texas most of my life, never got to explore Austin as much as I’ve have these past two months. It’s definitely has a charm and sight to it compared to McAllen and San Antonio.

Got to meet the new neighbor. He seems friendly enough.

Back in San Antonio. Would visit here every now and again growing up in McAllen. My sister moved here for college, then my mom and grandma moved during my first year out in LA and then I stayed during lockdown.

Not my most ideal place & situation to be in, but unfortunately I don’t have much choice at the moment. Hopefully this stay will be a lot shorter than the last one…

If anyone’s in the San Antonio area or knows of someone or potentially some work there, please let me know. Will be there till things in LA start picking up again.

Today’s National Cat Day and I just had to honor the fallen prince known as Snoop. He technically wasn’t my cat but basically became my joint custody cat as it were. 🤣

It was just love at first sight and he became a big part of my life over the past couple of years. Just absolutely affectionate and extremely unique. There was just an extra sense of awareness to him that was very human and special about him. Everyone who has ever met him has noted that about him and loved him right away.

I didn’t get to be there for the beginning of his life, but glad I was there to be there at the end of it. Here’s to Snoop, hope you’re at peace buddy.

4 more days to go. Amongst getting rid of things and the dread of it all, actually made a nostalgic trip into my old neighborhood in Hollywood. Lived here from April of 2019 to March of 2020 when I was originally out here and worked at the McDonald’s around the corner for a couple of months.

Got punched in the stomach by a crackhead while on the job, had no car and no idea of what the future had in store, in this case a global pandemic for a year and industry strikes that put us on hold for two years.

Wouldn’t live there again, but was kinda nice to think about some of those idealistic and at times innocent memories of when I first came out. Not the precious puppy as Doug Jones would put it now but not entirely the broken down circus chimp I claim to be just yet. Hopefully it’ll get better.

Did upload this as my profile pic but damn it, I do like this shot. A bit of tomfoolery amongst the madness.

Today’s World Gorilla Day and of course had to do a post for it. The largest living primate in the world, gorillas have always been a fascinating animal to us as far as we can remember.

Their human like appearance and intelligence mixed with their size and strength inspired the frightening tales such as told in Paul Du Chaillu’s EXPLORATIONS & ADVENTURES IN EQUATORIAL AFRICA which in turn inspired Merian C. Cooper to create the ultimate movie gorilla & monster with KING KONG in 1933.

A huge portion of time saw them as ferocious monsters when in reality they’re rather peaceful, family oriented animals that can get aggressive when needed like any animal would be as examined by the late Leaky Angel, Dian Fossey.

Being obsessed with primates, especially apes since childhood, gorillas have always been a favorite of mine. Unfortunately where I grew up in Michigan, there were none but then going to Gladys Porter Zoo and Los Angeles Zoo, they would always be major stop every time I go. Be it in relaxed state of rest or young black backs showboating, they still never cease to amaze and captivate.
