Always remember to clean your lenses. Sometimes, I think mine get dirty just because they are mine.. Just kidding, but they do get dirty. All you need to do is wipe them with a soft rag ,or glass cleaner. Something to always have with you.

We know that the best times for photography during the day are from 30 minutes before sunrise till about 10:00 in the morning and from 7 till 30 minutes after sundown. You can take photos anytime during the day, but be careful with how the colors look.

On a recent photo shoot I noticed that the colors are not as vivid as they are when shot during early morning or late evening. The sun really mutes them. The colors are still there, but not as good looking as if they were taken during the "normal times".

For most people they won't notice a difference. But if you really examine the photo ( look real close ) you will see it, and if we are going to the trouble to take a quality photo, I know you will look close.

Is anybody interested in getting a photo safari together? I have a couple of places in mind. There is Gruene, and Wimberly. I know there are other places, it just depends on how much you want to drive. So, let me know.

I am sorry for the screw up on the post with 5 pics. I was trying to put the cat picture in the post and when I dropped it in , it didn't take . So I did it again --same result. I ended up trying this 5 times with the same result. Then when I go to do another post to use the pic that I thought didn't go , I see that all 5 pics made the post. This is one reason I don't do this everyday.

On to other things. We DO NOT have the picture sizes of 14x18 and 18x24. The 14x18 has been replaced by 12x36. All the other sizes that I mentioned in the cat post are good.

WHITE BALANCE

White Balance is important in your pictures. You can change the white balance from Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Incandescent, and fluorescent.

Some of your selections will be obvious, because of where you are. Then there are the times when it can become difficult to choose between Daylight, , Shade, or Cloudy. The one that gives you the clearest picture with the least amount of "blue" should be your choice.

Automatic white balance is what is in control of all white balance. Make sure that it is in mid range or adjusted right to keep the blue out of your photos.

We are doing work with gourds. Yes, I know these things are mainly yard trash. But, there are farms that grow these things and the art community thinks it is great. So, I am making Birdhouses . These are some that I have made and are ready for sale. The door on the state flag is in the blue and did not show up on the pic. We will have more as we go in addition to regular birdhouses, planter boxes ,patio/deck tables and other things as we try to expand. HOWEVER, I have not gotten away from photography. I have over 2000 prints that I would to show/sell but have no place for that. I will put some on here from time to time. All my photography is outside. Pets, wildlife, windmills, old tractors, cars, and trucks buildings, birds, and landscapes among other things.

I would like to schedule some photo trips that we could all go on together. You know some Saturday or Sunday afternoon, or any other day of the week if people are free. Let me know your thoughts. I'm old fashioned, so call me text me or send me an email

It's been rough and rocky traveling the past year and nothing has happened on this page. But, everything is great and I am ready to get going

ISO
Iso refers to the camera's sensitivity to light.

Iso 100is the baseline speed. The higher the speed, the more sensitive it is to light. This allows for faster shutter speeds in lower light conditions. Iso 200 is twice as sensitive as 100. Iso 400 is twice as sensitive as 200 and so on.

As you get comfortable with your camera, you may use different Iso speeds. I use Iso 1000 most of the time .

In all of your picture taking, always look at how the scene looks in the camera before you take the the shot. Then you can make changes in white balance, Iso speed, or aperture settings befor you take the shot.

Last time we talked about Composition and the different things that help.

Today, lets talk about White Balance. White Balance is the adjustment of the camera compensate for the kind of light in the area of the picture. It eliminates all unwanted color produced by some light sources.

White Balance tells the camera what combination of red, green, and blue should be perceived as pure white, under the current lighting conditions you are experiencing.
