I love observing shapes in nature and how they can be used to frame a photo. I thought the arc of this tree mirrored the curve of the mountain really well. The sunrise this morning wasn't all that spectacular, but I made what I could out of what was in front of me. Hope you enjoy.

Spring has sprung in the Arizona desert! I'm still learning to identify different species of cactus, but based on the location and appearance I believe this is a Boyce Thompson cactus (echinocereus boyce-thompsonii). I caught these flowers early in the morning...planning to get back out and see them later in the day, when they have no doubt opened to their full glory and beauty!

A wonderful hike and morning sunrise shoot at Picket Post Mountain. My camera went a little haywire for some reason (surely not operator error???) so I didn’t like everything I got, but I did like this.

Continuing my water lily theme...I just fell in love with the colors on this one. There are so many different types of water lilies and the colors are so varied, I feel like I could keep photographing these for a long time and never run out of interesting subjects.

The first time I saw a beautiful passion flower (𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘢 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘢) was just a few years ago. They look so otherworldly to me - but beautiful. My wife's favorite color is purple, so I really dig the color. Found this wonderful specimen at .

For today, I’m taking a break from to focus (pun intended!) on flowers. This is a stand of Crocus vernus (Dutch crocus) from the . These flowers always make me think of my late mother in law…she loves these because they were one of the first signs of spring. I’ve developed a real passion for flower photography over the years - and I have to thank my dear friend and the good folks at for teaching me everything I know about flower photography.

I really just can't get enough of white egrets (𝘈𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘢). They're beautiful and incredibly graceful in flight. They're also hard to get a good photo of because they're very skittish! Shot this at one of my new favorite locations recently. Enjoy.

Another photo of the beautiful sandhill cranes (𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴) from my recent trip. This one took a bit of work to make the bird "pop" out of the background, but I was happy with how it turned out. Great trip, 10/10 would do again!

Sandhill cranes (𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴) are amazingly beautiful and graceful to me. Last month I headed down to southern Arizona to photograph these magnificent birds at a stop along their migration path. There were thousands of sandhill cranes and several hundred snow geese. It was an awesome sight - glad I got to experience it.

A black-tailed gnatcatcher (𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘳𝘢). These are uncommon in the area where I found it - they tend to be found further south. Lucky catch, I guess. It just proves a broken clock is still right twice a day! :-)
