Event Recap: Capturing Flavors & Moments

On December 6th, 2024, Capturing Flavors & Moments: An Evening with Natty was a night to remember at Artesan Lofts in Aurora, IL! A huge thank you to Artesan Lofts for hosting us for the third time – your support means the world.
Our evening kicked off with incredible vibes from DJ Alyx (), whose music perfectly complemented the artistic and culinary experiences. It was an honor to witness the Fox Valley Orchestra Chorus perform the beautiful “O Holy Night,” adding a magical touch to the event. 🎶✨
The event was thoughtfully designed in two parts: a culinary showcase and a portraiture exhibition. Guests indulged in exquisite dishes from renowned local favorites like Cozy Evanston and Poke San Chicago, along with my signature smoothie bowls and exclusive interviews with Chef Aarón Sánchez from the Second Annual Tortilla Awards. My journey as a Chicago food influencer, featured in Glamour Magazine, was celebrated through delicious recipes and heartfelt reviews that connected personal and cultural experiences through food.
The second part of the evening featured a stunning gallery of documentary and candid photography, capturing everyday moments and the stories they tell. Special thanks to Tomas Mahady, whose mentorship has been invaluable in perfecting my craft.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, explored my art, and shared their support. Special shoutout to Christkind from Christkindlmarket Aurora and Diego Villafuerte from West Chicago Community High School for their presence and interest in featuring our event in the Wildcat Chronicle.
Thank you to my beloved friends – Batthany, Rachel, Ethan, Brittany, Laury, Teressa, and Gail – for making the night even more special with your unwavering support.
This event was a resounding success, fostering meaningful connections and celebrating our vibrant local community. I can’t wait to host it again next year with even more art and fresh experiences on the wall. Wishing everyone a very merry holiday and a happy new year!

On National Teacher Day, I reflect on my journey as a photographer and the pivotal role my mentors and supporters have played along the way. Photography has always been a passion of mine, but it wasn't until 13 years ago, when I enrolled in classes at the Chicago Photography Center, that I truly began to hone my skills.

Before then, photography was simply a hobby—a way for me to capture the world as I saw it through my lens. I never imagined it could become something more until my friends encouraged me to take photos for them. Despite my initial doubts about my abilities, their unwavering belief in me gave me the courage to pursue photography professionally.

All the pictures featured in this post were taken 13 years ago when people first started asking me to take photos for them.

To my teacher, , thank you for imparting your knowledge and expertise, and for guiding me on this journey. To my friends, thank you for your encouragement and support—it means more than words can express. And to all my clients, thank you for trusting me to capture your special moments. You have all been my teachers, helping me grow and evolve as a photographer.

On this National Teacher Day, I am grateful for each and every one of you who has contributed to my growth and success. Together, we have created beautiful memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Each moment I witness through my lens is unique, encompassing a range of emotions and feelings.

As we celebrate World Laughter Day, let's also take a moment to reflect on the significance of mental health awareness. Behind every smile captured in a photograph, there may be moments of struggle, sadness, or uncertainty. It's crucial to check in with our loved ones and friends, to ask them how they're truly feeling and offer support when needed.

In my journey as a photographer, I've learned the importance of empathy and understanding. Behind every photo I take, there's a story waiting to be told, and sometimes that story includes moments of vulnerability and pain. By acknowledging the complexity of human emotions, we can create a more compassionate and supportive community.
