I have reported those photos and the page to Facebook, but there’s no guarantee that they will take them down . Monday was the Special Olympics Colorado annual golf tournament at The Sanctuary Golf Course. Tons of golfers, SoCo athletes and staff to make the day so special. This year no bears but we did see a few turkeys!

When I think back on all the Welcome Home ceremonies I’ve been at and the joy filled reunions, I also remember the hardest one where I watched a young girl-maybe 5-pin a Purple Heart on her injured father. Everyone cried- so many were there to welcome home their soldiers, but it was a reminder that a lot is sacrificed on the battlefield. The soldier passed away years later from the injuries he received.

Take time today to honor the memory of those who gave all both on the battlefield and from their injuries later at home, their families, and especially their children.

Last month I was able to volunteer at the Aurora Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. A special shout out to Arapahoe County Sheriff's Officefor their strong turn out and participation in the event.
The various unified teams from local schools showed up strong as usual and local businesses donated services and food to make the event a success.

Congrats to all of the athletes for their achievements at this weekends Special Olympics Colorado swim meet in Arvada.
