As a young rider, being around horses always put me at ease. As an adult, it turns out, nothing has changed.

I was fortunate enough to photograph these beauties a couple of weeks back, and I wanted to share a few of my favorites from our session.

Both Nova (bay mare) and Rohan (gray) are rescued race horses that are living out the rest of their years in comfort.

Did you know that the average racehorse’s career lasts just under three years? It’s a grueling and damaging lifestyle; these two are so lucky to have found their people in retirement. Josie & Corey are kind, patient, and care an extraordinary amount for these two.

If you’re ever wondering if I’ll photograph a certain species of animal that you love, the answer is yes (& now I’m envisioning a snake photoshoot!?)

Hey! It’s been a while… what say ye we liven up this page a little bit??

Meet Bella. She’s the coolest. I had so much fun up in the mountains with her a couple of weekends ago for her senior photos. Imagine me saying ‘hey you wanna just trust me & run off to the big hills together, where it’s been snowing this morning’?

Mad love for my favorite season, for aspen trees, for carefree attitudes and for the photos that we create.

Golden hour in Golden Gate Canyon State Park-

this place has such a big piece of my heart 💛 no matter what season, it’s full of mountain magic- wildflowers in the spring, twinkly aspens in the fall, jumping fishies in the ponds…

& when you’re wandering around with a gal that LOVES pictures…you get one happy photographer! Also, this was just one of three equally adorable outfits from this session.

There are so many things about fall to look forward to- splashes of color across seas of trees, cool nights spent making cozy foods with loved ones, crunchy leaves underfoot.

When I first met Rachael at yoga, she told me that she had written a whole dang BOOK- and that it was about music and life and love, and she wanted to take her author photos at Red Rocks.

Instantly, I knew it would be a lot of fun- and instantly, this first photo popped into my head.

I love feeling inspired like that- and with a little patience & the willingness of friends, I can turn those images into something tangible and lasting.

I’ve always got my nose in a book, so this shoot really stirred something in my soul 📖

Thanks for the trust, ALL of the laughs, and for penning what I’m sure is a delightful memoir- I can’t wait to read Second Set Chances!

I had to keep these quiet for a couple of weeks because this dress was a surprise (understandably) but WOWOWOW Ximena, you’re gorgeous ✨ happy quince!

Y’all already know that this look can’t be contained to a single post- check back for the photos from inside the state capitol building! Indoor photography isn’t my go-to, but when I saw the grand staircase, all of that went out the window 😆

I spent some time with my friend John and his family over the weekend, and it has me thinking about how many lovely & kind humans have trusted me over the years-

stepping in front of a camera feels really vulnerable, and y’all have showed up in a truly brave & authentic way. I know that photo shoots can be stressful, but you make my job easy when you smile readily & stay open minded.
