Ashes & Philth really tore it up this last weekend at HQ. A three piece from Grand Junction, if you weren't watching in a live setting you would have no idea it was a power trio.

Ashes & Philth started their set with some ethereal heavy sounds and then added elements of thrash and gothic metal to an otherwise systematic extreme metal bill the rest of the night. It was really great to watch a set with a lot of dynamics for contrast. I could hear all the influences popping out like a game of whack-a-mole - ranging from British heavy metal to elements normally relegated to dark or alternative rock. Just when I expected the show to go progressively sofer a thrash riff that sounded like it was written by Jeff Hanneman would hit your ears with some complimentary double bass to make it extra believable. 🥁

The night featured performances by Angelic Desolation, Hester Mofet , and the mighty LET THEM BURN - which was absolutely another pure highlight from the night. The LTB performance was one of the highest energy sets I've seen in years of seeing shows at HQ and it was NOT a short set. Their guitarist has some of the best tone and tastiest riffs. Keep an eye out. 👁️

Ashes and Philth is a band to watch in 2026. They have a ton of dynamics and infinite potential. I'm looking forward to watching them on their journey and can't wait to see them again. Make sure you hit that follow button and keep watch for future show announcements. 📅

I've been to thousands of shows in my life and I'm so glad I didn't miss the absolute punk rock history that was made while attending the Gothic Theatre on Saturday night. I thought I had previously witnessed a lot of crowd surfers and stage dives in years past at Vans Warped Tour, Snocore, Ozzfest, etc - this last Saturday night was by far the most I've ever seen during one single set. 🫠

I shot all the intense pit action in black and white as some of my favorite images of rowdy shows growing up all had that old school Rolling Stone monochrome vibe that helped tell the story. 🌪 I'll share those and a special appearance by Jello Biafra later this week. It's super cool to just be in the same room as someone well known for activism as well as a long list of contributions with Dead Kennedys and to punk music and culture as a whole.

Hey everyone — I’m still riding the high from photographing Fell Harvest at their EP release performance, and I had to share some of the shots and energy I captured.

From the very first note, their set hit like a thunderclap — full of deep cuts that longtime fans started bobbing heads to, but also a brand-new batch of songs that absolutely crushed. There was this raw, primal and old school darkness in their new material — but also such a dynamic range: some moments slow and haunting, others soaring with urgency, shifting tempos and tone with intention.

Visually, the band owned the stage in a way that matched their musical weight. Joseph's presence behind his bass was magnetic, Liam’s guitar lines cut through the haze, and Mike's drums locked in hard. The lighting, the sweat, the intensity — it was all there, and now for forever in every frame.

It was an honor to document a band that wears their doom-metal soul on their sleeve. Fell Harvest is doing something powerful, weaving together melancholic melody, crushing riffs, and emotional depth — and I’m so excited for where they go from here.

Having Pathos & Logos as opener was the best decision ever. Also a set that took everyone by surprise while conveying a lot of different moods and tones.

Big love to Fell Harvest for trusting me to capture this moment. Can’t wait to share 🎥 more, and I’m already itching for the next time we do this again.

The Levitt Pavilion Denver stop for the Alternative Te****les Records' showcase affectionately named the Rocky Mountain Te****le Fest was nothing short of incredible. The label that initially launched the Dead Kennedys into more ears with the help of Jello Biafra through similar efforts, effectively changing the landscape of early 80s hardcore punk scene forever. This incredible effort came to life while teaming up with Levitt Pavilion for a FREE show full of innovative bands with message for change. Here is a look at the blistering Dead Pioneers set which set the energetic tone for the night.

Dead Pioneers as a band is breaking new ground and continuing the work trailblazers of punk past started. The efforts of those involved have opened the door for innovative artists such as Dead Pioneers and the astounding Wheelchair Sports Camp to impact more people and further their reach.

Dead Pioneers, led by vocalist Gregg Deal, sharpens a new era of punk that doesn't follow the format of previous offerings, often using spoken word and fast punk riffs to share their message of Indigenous peoples rights while bringing people together in support for other marginalized people enduring the current political and socioeconomic factors of the digital age.
