For an individual living with domestic violence, leaving isn’t as simple as walking out the door. And domestic violence doesn’t always leave a visible bruise, it can take many forms, including emotional, verbal, financial, psychological, and physical abuse. Having the courage to step away can mean leaving behind a home, belongings, financial security, and sometimes everything familiar, in order to find safety. Right here in Augusta, SafeHomes gives survivors and their families a safe place to turn, along with the advocacy, resources, and support they need to begin rebuilding their lives.
Fake It To Make It has been SafeHomes’ signature fundraising event, raising over $1.7 million to support the mission of transforming victims of domestic violence into survivors. Nearly every show has sold out. It’s a high-energy, fan-favorite lip sync competition with 8 teams battling it out for the ultimate bragging rights and the coveted championship belts in the categories of Top Fundraiser, People’s Choice, and Judges’ Choice.
This year I am honored to be participating in the 10th anniversary of Fake It To Make It!
