My dad walking around. My grandma pushing him on a swing. My papa playing with him in the yard.

That's it.

And somehow, all these years later, it means everything to me.

I'm so thankful someone thought to pull out a camera on an ordinary day and preserve these little pieces of them. I can see their faces, the way they moved and smiled, and in other home movies, I can still hear their voices.

I think that's the part of why I photograph families the way I do now.

Yes, we'll take the photo where everyone's looking at the camera.

But we'll also photograph the giggles. The hand holding. The skipping. The cuddles. The frog kissing. All of it.

Because right now, those things can feel incredibly ordinary.

But 20 years from now, the ordinary might be exactly what you wish you could have back.

Sometimes I take a picture and it hits me a little differently.

I look at these two and I still remember being there when one of them was born. And somehow, she's a freshman in high school now.

I remember staying up all night waiting for her little sister to be born, sitting on the phone waiting for updates and wondering when she was finally going to make her appearance.

And now look at them.

This summer while I was taking their pictures, there were a couple of times when one of them would turn her head or look back at me a certain way and all I could see was her mom at that age.

It stopped me in my tracks a couple of times.

Because I know kids grow up. Obviously, I've watched my own four do it. But sometimes you see it all at once, and you realize just how much has changed in what feels like no time at all.

Their faces have changed. They're taller. They're growing into these beautiful young women. But I can still see those little girls in there, too.

I'm sure they're absolutely thrilled that I show up with my camera every summer and insist on taking their pictures.

But I really do love it.

I love getting to spend that time with them every year. I love watching them grow. And I love that we have photographs of all these different versions of them along the way.

Because somehow, it really does go this fast.

I’ve been photographing this family since their oldest was a baby, and every year they show up just a little bit taller and with a LOT more personality.

Little Mister never disappoints. There will be faces. There will be opinions. There will be something that makes me laugh.

Little Miss is an absolute sweetheart… right up until she decides it’s time to remind her brother who’s boss.

And honestly, this is one of my favorite things about photographing the same families year after year.

I already know them.

They know me.

We don’t have to spend half the session figuring each other out. We can jump right in, let everybody be themselves, and get to the good stuff.

Which was especially helpful this time because we were racing the sun. It was already disappearing behind the trees when we started, and they jumped right in like the pros they are.

And every year, the photos look a little different because they're a little different.

The kids are taller. Their personalities are bigger. The way they interact with each other changes.

That’s the part I love.

It’s not about recreating the exact same family photo every year. It’s getting to watch your family grow into whoever they’re becoming.

Locally, most of our schools are back in session, and we've all made it through the first week! August is a month of big changes for many families. Whether it's your oldest's 1st day of kinder, your baby's 1st day of college classes, or simply the transition from summer to autumn, August is a reminder of just how quickly time passes. It's also the perfect time to schedule a family session with Hope Believe Photography to capture whatever stage of life your family is in right now. Let's get together and preserve these moments so you can cherish them for years to come!

When we meet, I want you to forget about "posing" and simply be together. Snuggle close, chase your kids, tell silly jokes, dance, explore, and love on each other. Those in-between moments are the ones I treasure most because they're the ones that feel real.My job isn't just to take beautiful photos—it's to preserve the feeling of this season of your life. The tiny details you'll one day miss, the personalities that shine through, and the connection you share as a family. Years from now, I want these images to remind you not only of how you looked, but of how it felt to be together.

One of my favorite things about photographing families is that no two kids are ever the same. Some are quiet observers. Others never stop talking and are full of wild ideas, silly faces, and endless curiosity. Every little quirk, habit, and expression is part of the season you're in right now. Those are the moments I pay attention to. Not perfect smiles or perfectly still poses, but the pieces of childhood that change before you even realize they're gone. That's the story I want your photos to tell.

When my kids were little, I don't think I ever truly realized just how little they were.

I was tired.

I was figuring things out.

I was trying to keep everyone fed, everyone happy, and somehow make it through the day and that's okay.

Even as a photographer, I wasn't always thinking about stopping to soak it all in.

Now, when I look back, I don't miss the sleepless nights.

I miss the way they fit perfectly on my shoulder.

The way they curled up on my chest.

The tiny fingers wrapped around mine.

The little newborn stretches that seemed so ordinary at the time.

Those are the moments I wish I had even more of.

Maybe that's why I love newborn photography so much.

When you come into the studio, I don't want you worrying about anything except loving on your baby.

If you want your hair and makeup done, I've got someone for that.

Need a cup of coffee? It's waiting.

Need a snack? We've got those too.

Need to step away and feed your baby or just have a quiet minute? There's a cozy little space for that.

You don't have to rush.

You don't have to entertain anyone.

You don't have to have it all together.

You just get to hold your baby.

I'll take care of the rest.

Because one day, these tiny moments won't feel ordinary anymore.

They'll be the ones you wish you could hold onto just a little longer.

Newborn sessions are meant to move at baby’s pace.

We pause for feedings, diaper changes, soothing, and all the little cues baby gives us along the way.

Calm, safe, patient, and baby-led.
