I only ever shared 1 or 2 pictures from this set. And I think 1 pullback (pull back shot at the end). Why?
I went through a long period when I thought every photo had to be polished and perfect.
I’ve been out of that mindset for a while, but was looking through old Lightroom photos and found these. Can’t believe I thought these were bad before, simply because I was comparing myself to the fine art photographers I saw on Instagram. Comparison really blocked so much from my life.
My art is created to be unpolished.
When I stopped trying to be “good” like someone else, I was much happier, and my work could resonate with others—perhaps not the masses, but someone.
If this sounds like you, I hope you might allow yourself to share the imperfect.
The blemished.
The raw and bitter and beautiful.
The overexposed. The shadow-laden.
The flaws that showcase humanity.
