It was pretty impressive watching the skipper of The Islander which was docked bow in the tight confines between Long and Chandler Wharf maneuver his vessel in a 180 degree turn to get in facing in the right direction to head out on one of its many harbor cruises for the day.

Fort Gorges located on Hog Island Ledge in Casco Bay is an abandoned 19th century fort.

It's located about a mile off of East End Beach in Portland and is accessible by boat depending on the tides and also kayak

A local sea kayaking company also offers tours to the island which I'd like to do some day.

All Aboard The Lucky Catch

Nicky had been wanting to go out on a lobster boat for a while now. I finally was able to book a trip aboard the Lucky Catch out of Portland Harbor.

We made our way out of Portland Harbor and headed towards Portland Headlight pulling a few traps along the way.

Couldn't have asked for a better day to be out on the water.

Docked at the Portland Ocean Gateway today was the Norwegian Breakaway.

It boasts 18 decks and is over 1000 feet long holding upwards of 4,000 passengers along with a 1,500 member crew.

A few shots of the partial lunar eclipse which occurred late last night and early this morning. Clouds rolled in around 11:30 blocking the view of the near totally eclipse of 96% which took place a little after midnight.
