I Audibled (it's a word, right?) Greenlights on my many long road-trips this year and just finished this week!

As someone who has left everything I know several times now I wholeheartedly agree with this quote! And it’s not just about places (to me). I think it can mean a lot of things. Jobs, relationships, cycles, etc. It’s all scary but so worth it.

I left Oregon almost eight years ago now. First for a few years in San Francisco and then a huge cross-country move to Florida. It’s been the wildest ride and I’m so grateful for it. I have learned so much about new places but mostly about me and I know I wouldn’t have grown in the same ways without the experience of being somewhere new and not knowing.

Every once in awhile I get into a mood about the internet. It's a really weird thing to run a business that relies on the internet to connect with clients and to be sure I'm connecting with the right clients and figure out what to share, what's safe to share, when to share, etc…..​​​​​​​​

This week I waded through some tough stuff with my mom's mental health which always affects me too. I almost never talk about this because it's pretty heavy but I've started to a little because it's, unfortunately, just part of my story. ​​​​​​​​

ANYWAYS…today I was kind of struck by how what the internet saw this week was love and joy, which there was a lot of, but there were also some really real and hard moments mixed in there, too.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
The internet gets a rep for being a highlight reel and I know I personally don't post the harder stuff for many reasons like privacy, not wanting to focus on the hard stuff or complain or add to the intensity that is the world RN but I think we're all out here carrying loads of 💩 and carrying on the best we can.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
We're posting beautiful things through difficult times and taking meetings in the middle of storms and we're showing up with smiles regardless of the many challenges lurking not just on the internet but in real life, too. And I think there's room for both and I guess I'm just here to say if you had a DAY this week… "and me too" (as my son, Ryan, says).

I never thought I’d want a picture of me nursing but just before Nell’s birthday I had an urge to have it documented. She didn’t really want to cooperate that morning and maybe because looking like this is a lie because we’re normally nestled in bed in our Jammie’s and morning breath 😂

I know not everyone is able to or wants to breastfeed and I know (first-hand with Ryan) that it’s all very emotional and can be extremelyyyyy hard. I really don’t want to post this and make anyone bad if they weren’t able to or didn’t want to because NO shoulda-woulda-couldas allowed here… in life and especially not in motherhood, okay?

But I’m grateful. Very grateful for our time. Early on our late nights were quiet and time for just us. And as she grew we could sneak away or (my favorite) have lazy mornings in bed. I’ll always cherish these moments.

And I’m pretty grateful to for capturing. I love being in this business of memory keeping and meeting friends who do it so beautifully along the way. 🥹

Just delivered my first Oregon session and this one is super special because it’s for my friend and former coworker at lucy Activewear in California!! What a wild ride we had together & that team will forever be one of the greatest experiences of my career 💖

Tricia and her family recently moved to Portland and what a treat to get to see her while I was in town! It’s been a long time since I shot in Oregon and I was a little nervous tbh when it was a cloudy morning but I just LOVE how these came out. So lush and beautiful. I had the best time being home this summer and so glad my camera got to come along! ☀️
