Meanwhile, somewhere deep in the garden, Sir Slime-a-Lot, (a globe snail) was making his daring 3-hour journey across the rocky terrain in search of snacks and absolutely no responsibilities.
With his tiny eyestalks on full alert and his deluxe spiral camper strapped to his back, he inched along like the ruler of the backyard kingdom. Honestly, the confidence this little guy has while moving at the speed of cold molasses is inspiring. I?d say he was in a hurry? but we all know that would be a stretch.

Smyrna, GA

This Black-horned Green Lacewing appeared on the glass back door of my home just after dark. I spend a lot of time watching the small visitors that gather around my doors and windows at night, but this one stopped me immediately ? the vivid green body, translucent wings, and impossibly delicate antennae looked almost unreal once viewed up close.

The image was photographed handheld with an iPhone 13 using a macro setup and edited in Lightroom Mobile. I wanted to preserve the softness and natural glow of the scene while allowing the fine wing detail and luminous green tones to stand out.

Black-horned Green Lacewings are native to Georgia and are considered highly beneficial insects, with larvae often called ?aphid lions? because they prey on garden pests. Moments like this are a reminder that an entire hidden world exists just outside our doors if we slow down enough to notice it.

Spotted this praying mantis doing his thing on a wall at a nearby church. As I struggled to get him in focus, he turned his head and a struck a pose.
