This was one of the first photographs I took while testing my new Moment 75mm lens in my own yard. A bumble bee became an unexpectedly cooperative subject as it worked its way into the flower on my hibiscus bush. I was immediately struck by the depth and clarity the lens captured - the pollen scattered across the bee, the detail in its body and wings, and the way it seems almost three-dimensional against the flower, so alive.

It was photographed with my iPhone, and seeing this image convinced me that this new lens was going to open up another way of exploring the tiny world around me.

Found a few camellia flowers blooming in the winter no less during a snow storm we were having here a few years ago. Found a few in it's different stages from buds to full bloom to the end of its cycle. Couldn't have found em at a better time when I was dipping my toe into macro photography!

Went to the gardens with other photographers and the rain came. They all went inside but I was able to stay outside taking pics with my weather-sealed OM System OM1MK2 & 12-100mm lens. This is an 8 frame photo stacked in-camera. Had a fly photo bomb my shot.

Gilded Silence _ Chattahoochee Bend State Park

This photograph was taken last autumn in a nearby park. I love experimenting with light, lenses, and simple subjects, looking for something a little different in an otherwise ordinary scene.

For this shot, I used a Canon 5D Mark IV with a Helios M42 lens and a reversed lens element, combined with my favorite kind of light ? almost backlighting. This unusual setup creates a beautiful swirling bokeh.

I often find that when the light, lens, and subject come together, they do most of the creative work for me. In this case, the plants certainly did their part. :)

This photo was taken in my garden last summer. I had been photographing bees on the flowers and I was shooting at 1/3200. Not a shutter speed I?d normally use for a flower, but I love how it turned out. The fast shutter and darker exposure gave the flower such a moody and dramatic vibe.
