Kristin Ferro

Kristin Ferro .ferro My name is Kristin and I am a lifelong Atlantan, except for the four wonderful years I spent attending the University of Georgia in Athens.

I received my BFA in Art Education in 2007, and have been teaching Visual Arts at Cross Keys High School since January 2008. I come from a camera happy family with years of graphic design & yearbook experience, so have always been into memories & pictures. When I studied photography abroad in Cortona, Italy during the summer of 2006, I finally began to realize the excitement that capturing the "pe

rfect picture" could bring and turned my camera lens onto any and everything! I started taking photos of friends' kids, families, weddings, and pets in 2008, and have relied on word of mouth since then. My visual brain and arts background have both contributed to my way of thinking; I am consistently composing mental frames around mundane objects, or while I'm experiencing daily life, to see if that moment in time truly is a good ol' "kodak moment," as we know it, or at least instagram-worthy! I'm perpetually building my portfolio photographing these everyday visions. I look forward to meeting new people and creating more opportunities to become a better and more far-reaching photographer. I hope to create a client base of good people who are looking for quality photographs for whatever challenge they've got for my camera & me. I am excited to finally put my portfolio online for browsing and make my "after school job" a more serious venture!

"He Never Called" portrays a broken phone receiver hanging by a thread - like the emotions of a broken heart waiting for a call that never came.

The phone was found in room 104 of the abandoned Hotel Scoville located in Atlanta, Georgia. This room is infamous for serving as the location for the music video "Rain Fall Down" by The Rolling Stones, filmed in 2005 at the hotel; the phone can be seen at minute 2:12 in its original condition.

Available for purchase today from , in an 8x10” [$35], 11x14” [$65], 16x20” [$95], or 24x36” [$135] format.

I’m excited to have my photo included in this collection with such a talented lineup of photographers - make sure to check out their work too, and thanks for the support!

The helipad, what a view! This is looking north from the rooftop at 222 Mitchell Street in , but the view in every direction from here is stunning. This is the last of the series from the former C&S Bank office building that I’m posting on my feed - if you’re curious to see more, they’re on my website under the Historic Hotel Row portfolio, and you can always visit www.southdwntn.com to learn more.

This small freight elevator is located on the rooftop helipad at 222 Mitchell Street in . It’s purpose was for secure money deposits from a helicopter directly down to the Citizens & Southern Bank vault on the ground floor in this building’s previous life. This is the first I’d ever even heard of something like this, and I’m curious to see how it’ll be incorporated into the redevelopment of this amazing rooftop space!

One of my favorites - a couple of exhaust pipes from the rooftop helipad at 222 Mitchell Street for , previously a C&S Bank office building. PS. I just now Googled what these are called, are they vents? I was more concerned with their form than their function.

The telephone receivers that I shot in were some of my favorite subjects. Not only does this plastic coil-corded object take us back to the 1900’s, it also acts as a simple symbol representing the importance of two-way communication that I think is both fun and beautiful - especially during this year of the pandemic! This phone is located on the stairwell to the helipad at 222 Mitchell Street in , previously a C&S Bank office building.
