Of all the interesting names used to reference a group of animals, one of my favorites is a "flamboyance" as captured in this 2023 image from our Tanzanian safari. Thousand of pink flamingos had gathered at Lake Manyara south of the Serengeti - the second image taken from our nearby hilltop campsite.

A lioness enjoys a mid-morning rest in a posture common for African big cats.

Lounging in trees with legs dangling provides stability, their legs serving as counterweights locking their center of gravity and preventing them from rolling off the branch while sleeping. This positioning also creates cooling ventilation and offers a vantage point to scan for predators and prey.

During an unusual visit to Brookhaven, GA., this Tricolored Heron seemed to be very comfortable in its new surroundings - and close to so many photographers! And I'm very pleased with the low-light capabilities of my new Sony A7v! Sadly, Facebook tweaks the colors.
