Today we left Invercargill, bright and early. I mean awake at 6:45 and getting on the road before 8 early. (It would have been earlier if we hadn't taken our time with breakfast and chatting with our host.) And by bright I mean....well it was kinda sunny actually. The rain had eased up - there were....

Invercargill likes to try to live up to it's Scottish heritage. I say this because last night's cold weather and windy ways did not subside come morning. In fact, it was quite cold all night, and the plush blanket provided by our airbnb hosts was not quite enough to warm my lizard blood. It was one....

I know, I know. You’ve heard from me a lot. I promise, from now on, it’s one blog post per day. Two max. But we truly are in New Zealand now. Not just the airports. Not just planes in air. But feet on ground, wheels to the road, truly in the country. We’re officially starting our trip in Chris...

this is a intermediary sorta post - the New Zealand trip starts on the next one!

Y'all, who let me skip two years of blog posts? Look, I am lucky enough that it's not due to a lack of travel. After Antarctica I got to travel to Indonesia (and Seoul Airport in South Korea). I went to California, New York, Montana, North Carolina. I got to see two of my closest friends get married...

Hi all! I was thinking about well, this page, and frankly how I'm terrible at utilizing it. Then, I started thinking about using my new knowledge of streaming to stream a photo edit session. I can show y'all what I do from start to finish on a couple of photos, and take suggestions about which pics I should choose. Yay/ nay? If yay, then what days and times would you prefer?

The Comet Neowise seen from Brasstown Bald in North Georgia. This comet was named for the telescope that first discovered it, and it is passing Earth for the next few days. Astronomers first noticed it back in March, and it was only a weeks or so ago that it became visible to stargazers on earth. It first appeared above the horizon in the pre-dawn light, but has since transitioned to a nighttime viewing. Its' tail is about 3 miles long, and it can be seen with the naked eye in the North West sky, below the Big Dipper.
There's hope that it'll be visible until the 22nd, but there's no guarantee.
When it disappears, it will not return for almost 6800 years. (6766, to be more accurate.)
To the naked eye, it's more green than the white this picture hints at, but my 2nd picture reflects the naked eye more.
Yeah it's not visually appealing, but it's amazing to see it for yourself.

It's amazing when wildlife presents itself to you. This seal and I played hide and seek for about 45 minutes...maybe an hour before they disappeared from my line of sight and they disappeared to me.

I got lucky. I happened to see them when they were very close to shore, and while they kept looking my way, I knew they weren't worried about me.

I mean, the lagoon is filled with icebergs, I was avoiding the water like children avoid bedtime.

I'm a wuss, I'm not going in there.

Well, I didn't then, but I do have a goal to dry suit up one day but that's the future.

One of my all time favorite pictures, this was taken in....2017?
Nauyaca Waterfalls down in Costa Rica.
The thing that is unfortunate is that this isn't even all of it's glory.

It's a popular tourist spot and while these upper falls are a sight to behold, there's another set of falls below that have a basin that's great for swimming.

There's several ways to get to the falls, but the one we took happened to be a horse trail. On the trail is a small restaurant where we stopped to eat which was a welcome treat.

Close to the Arctic Circle, Iceland experiences some of the longest days and the longest nights.
When I visited in November 2017, sunrise was usually around 9:30, while Sunset started around 4.

I spent a lot of time in the dark during that trip, but the scenery in Iceland is beautiful regardless. I refused to settle in for the night until I'd milked every last drop of sunlight.

The golden hour is worth it.
