Poetically, to celebrate this first F*ck Kim Davis Day/Week, tomorrow morning I'll be photographing my 100th LGBTQ+ wedding. A beautiful intimate elopement in the North Georgia mountains.

To gloat, uh, I mean celebrate, here's a few highlights from over the years:

1. Fred and Everett
2. Maribel and Adrianna
3. Kacey and Beka
4. Mark and Drew
5. Heidi and Kat
6. Maddie and Anastasha
7. Becca and Gi
8. Bruna and Danielle
9. Juli and Rachel

It's been a busy year with weddings and I've not really been able to focus on my personal art as much as I would have liked, but I'm really excited that two of my favorite photos will be in the Atlanta Photography Group / APG Portrait and Storytelling exhibits this next month. If you're in Midtown, be sure to swing by and take a look at the shows. It's an honor to be included among such a wildly talented group of artists.

I gave up commenting on political things on social media a few years ago. I’d rather spend the time looking at dog videos. But it doesn't mean I'm not paying attention to everything that's happening. And it definitely doesn't mean I'm not doing anything, and you know I've never ever been neutral.

Right now, LGBTQ+ rights are (still) under attack. Trans rights are being chipped away daily. And now, stinky ol’ Kim Davis is back in the news. (Yes, the same county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.)

So here’s my plan: I have 5 wedding spots left for next year. For every booking, I’ll donate $200 to Lambda Legal in her name. I already checked and I can absolutely do it.

It’s a win-win. You get amazing wedding photos. Lambda Legal gets more resources to fight for our rights. And Kim Davis… well, she gets a donation receipt with her name on it. Bwa ha ha.

Marriage is forever. Petty is eternal.

Email me to book your date.

1. Marriage is forever. Petty is eternal. Tie the knot. Twist the knife.
2. I try not to spend all my time on social media complaining. Usually, I’d rather do something. Make an impact. Even if it's small.
3. But when it comes to politics, it can feel like there's no way to fight back. Especially when it affects our lives.
4. Right now, LGBTQ+ rights are under attack. Trans rights are being chipped away daily. And yes, stinky ol’ Kim Davis is back in the news.
5. So here’s what I’m doing: I have 5 wedding openings left for 2026. For every booking, I’ll donate $200 to Lambda Legal in Kim Davis’ name. (I checked. You can totally do it.)
6. Getting married with a touch of spite is valid. Love wins. Spite helps.
7. Do it for the love. Enjoy it for the petty. Because marriage is forever, but petty is eternal.

There's no place like home -- for your photo session. I wrote this about engagement photography, but it's true for family photography too.

Engagement photos at home are raw, intimate, and real. Here’s why skipping the perfect location and embracing your everyday space makes for the most meaningful images.

We interrupt this wildly uncurated wedding photography feed to remind you that I also make pretty badass family photos.

Our kids are grown up now, which still shocks me, honestly. No idea how that happened. And as Jessie and I finally get around to printing all the photos I made of them over the years, we keep coming back to the same thing: our favorites aren't the perfect ones. They're the messy, unposed moments. The chocolate smeared faces, dirt streaked knees, full-blown belly laughs and tear stained cheeks.

From the start, I decided I would photograph other people's family like I did my own. Unfiltered. Honest. With a whole lot of love.

I'm proud of the portfolio I've built. But I'm even more proud of the relationships. There are several families I've been photographing every year for over a decade. Now their kids are graduating, and I'm as excited about it as they are. That feels like magic to me.

So here's your gentle nudge: make the time. Whether you grab your phone or call me, just make photos. Lots of photos.

You'll be glad you did.

It all goes by fast.

PS: That last one? It was in a gallery show last year. NBD. You could be next. Call me. 😉☎️

Hey y'all! To appease the search engines and maintain a little separation between my client work and my personal work, I started a Substack where I post infrequently about photos I've made and how I made them, cool things I'm reading, watching, or listening to, and other totally random stuff that my ADHD gets me into. You're welcome to join the conversation so I'm not just talking into the void. It'll probably get better, but there's really no guarantee.

Happy valentines day and stuff
