In late January I was down by the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park photographing Trumpeter Swans when suddenly a juvenile Bald Eagle swooped down and snatched a duck out of the river. At first I wasn't sure what he had but upon reviewing my photographs it was definitely a duck having a bad day. It was all over in about in about five seconds. I previously posted the final frame I captured but I though I would post a four shot sequence that shows the whole progression. Even though it was a little unsettling thinking about the duck, eagles have to eat too. I was just glad I was in the right place at the right time with my camera ready.

This juvenile Trumpeter Swan flew past me as I stood by the Madison River. They are the largest birds found in the Yellowstone National Park. Their wingspan can reach 10 feet.
