Jumping on the “2016 Throwback bandwagon” as I have loved seeing everyone else’s posts. 2016 was a transformative year for me and my business as I started the year not realizing the massive pivot my work would take on. I’m so grateful for the clarity that 2016 gave me and I am thankful for the opportunities that “pivot” is still providing me with a decade later. 🩵

We’re officially halfway through the first week of school here in Georgia, and while I’m physically going through all of the motions that come with early alarms, endless school forms, etc., mentally, I’m still floating off the coast of Croatia in the Adriatic Sea—feeling immense gratitude for the opportunities we have to travel with such dear friends.

It’s hard for words to do justice to the beauty that is Dubrovnik, so I’ll try to convey it through photos instead. I’m still editing underwater images I took in the Blue Cave on Koločep Island and can’t wait to share those, along with some fun cliff diving shots, soon!

Wishing all those who have already started school—as well as those returning in the coming days—a wonderful year ahead! ✨

I made a goal at the beginning of the summer to intentionally dedicate more time shooting underwater at the lake this season. Shooting underwater in a pool is pretty straight forward; the lake is a whole new ball game. These are a few shots from one of my shoots with a couple weeks ago.

While it’s been a wonderful, busier-than-planned summer with a quick jaunt to Montreal, a week at Dance Nationals in S.C., a couple days in Asheville for summer camp drop-off/pick-up, some fun days on set for three different shows currently in production and a week in Croatia for two of us, this summer has flown right on by. Wouldn’t change any of it for the world, but when I get to experience these kismet moments at the lake my exhale feels calmer, deeper and it is good for my soul. Hope everyone is having a lovely summer, as well. 💛

Tomorrow is officially the last day of school which means it’s also now *officially* pool season! I went on a photographic walk down memory lane this evening to gather creative inspiration for this summer and I’m simply giddy to start jumping in!! This summer is filled to the brim with so.much.goodness, but I may have room for a session or two in early June or late July. Two posts in two days… even I am surprised! 😆 This image was taken almost immediately preceding the image I posted yesterday. This image required a fairly involved edit as my settings were still set for the over/under shots I had been taking right before dunking my camera fully under the surface for this one. I’ve included a VERY sped up video of my editing process on the second slide. Underwater photos require a totally different type of editing than “above water” images and I, personally, find the only way to make my vision a reality is to hand-edit each and every image for the unique scene that it is. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to outsource this process to AI, but until that happens I do my best to remind myself that editing these images is just another extension of the creative process.

Nothing motivates me to edit warm, goldeny summer images more than a forecast calling for winter weather and a New Year’s resolution to post more frequently on IG than I did last year (which was a whopping times… so I’m already 1/12th of the way there! 😆) Hope everyone’s new year is off to a fantastic start!

Whilst the Diamond of this season has yet to be selected, the whispers of ghosts’ flit about the grand halls that we are indeed close to a selection.
