A little full-circle moment for me.
I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on The Portrait System Podcast with Nikki Closser.
I’ve listened to this podcast for years. Back when my firsborn was a newborn, I’d put on an episode and go for a walk. I was still figuring out photography, figuring out business, and trying to understand how to make all of this fit into an already very full life.
Over the years, I’ve listened to a lot of photographers share their experiences—what worked, what didn’t, how they built their businesses, and how their paths changed along the way.
And now I got to sit on the other side of that conversation and talk about my own journey.
We talked about building my photography business while working a corporate job, raising three kids, not having a studio, and slowly figuring out how I wanted to photograph families and what I wanted this business to look like.
There’s obviously a lot more to the story than what you see on social media, and it was nice to have the chance to talk about some of it.
Thank you to Nikki and The Portrait System team for having me.
