Been spending some time at the courts the last couple of weeks. I'm always impressed by the talent, athleticism, and spirit of those that I get the privilege of snapping photos for. What amazes me the most is the passion and the sportsmanship, everyone shows up, plays the game, and loves every minute of it. Just look at their faces, you can see it. Pure Passion!

Up for a little bird yoga?

Meet the Anhinga! This bird, often confused with the Cormorant is a water bird that can be found year-round in Florida. When the Anhinga takes to the water, it often swims with its entire body completely or partially submerged, afterwards requiring a moment to dry out. The Anhinga will then strike this Warrior like pose with its wings fully outstretched and its turkey like tail fanned in order to dry out before taking to the water for another dip, or to the skies where it looks as though it is a flying cross, with its wings stretched out and its tail completely straight.

Dinosaur...

Did you know that it was recently discovered that the Florida Alligator has seen very few if any evolutionary changes over the past 8 million years? To add to that, the research article that was authored by Evan Whiting said that even as far back as 30 million years, the alligator was hardly different than what we see and know so well today! One of the most adaptable creatures on the planet, surviving harsh climate changes, sea acidity changes, cold temperatures and warm temperatures. Such an amazing creature.

Caught this image at the Myakka River state park during my stay in Florida. I'm not really sure what it is about gators, but they really give me goosebumps. Maybe it's all the teeth? Or the fact that they have been on the planet for longer than my tiny little brain can even imagine. Not sure, I do know that staring this guy in the eyeballs was an experience I won't soon forget.
