Here’s a piece of wedding advice for all soon-to-be brides:

Bring a box dedicated to all your small detail items on your wedding day. This makes it much easier for you and your photographer by having all meaningful details in one place.

When it comes to detail shots and flat lay photos, it really is individual to you. Think of what items are significant and meaningful to you. What are those small details that you want preserved in photos for years to come?

I typically suggest the following:
- Invitation suite (preferably 2 copies and stored in a plastic bag so they’re protected)
- Rings (Bride & Groom)
- Perfume
- Jewelry
- Family heirlooms
- Vow books
- Floral cuttings (ask your florist for extra cuttings)

Keep this box close to your wedding dress, wedding shoes, and veil to make it easily accessible.

Hopefully you found this tip helpful! Send this to a bride-to-be to help her plan for a stress free wedding day 🤍

There’s something about film that digital can’t quite replicate—the texture, the nostalgia, the way it turns a single moment into a memory you can feel.

While film photography isn’t my primary service, it’s a medium I love!
A little grain… a little magic… a lot of heart

Wedding advice from a professional wedding photographer, if I wasn’t afraid to hurt your feelings—Part 1:

1.) Invest in plenty of coverage for your photography
There’s a lot going on in a wedding day and in order to capture everything, including candid photos, you need plenty of coverage. So many couples want candid photos but many don’t allot time for that because of all the other things they want covered in a relatively short time frame. This often means jumping from one photo to the next. Invest in 10hrs minimum to allow breathing room to naturally interact with people while allowing your photographer to capture things organically (hello candid photos).

2.) You set the tone for your wedding day
Your joy, excitement and feelings set the stage for the entire wedding day. Your wedding party and vendors feed off that—you set the mood. If you want candid, joyful photos, you have to be present & joyful on your wedding day. The best way to do this? Let go of what you can’t control & trust the vendors you hired. Which brings me to my next piece of advice 👇🏼

3.) Hire professional vendors that you trust
Your cousin that has a good playlist and some speakers might save you money on a DJ but they will cost you your peace! Please hire professionals…and let them do their job. Let go of needing to be in control, that’s why you hired professionals. Professional vendors know what they’re doing & have lots of experience, they will keep things moving smoothly. Chances are if something happens off book you won’t even know it anyway. Trust your vendors and trust the process.

4.) Only put true must-have family groupings on your shot list
Ideally, keep family photos to 10-15 groupings max. Figure out who are the people you really want photos with—will you print these out and hang them on your wall? Those are the photo groupings to really focus on. If you’d be disappointed not to have it-keep it on your list. If not, skip it. This allows you to get formal photos of the people that matter most while still allowing the informal photo moments with others to happen organically at the reception.
