One headshot can't do every job.

You might need one that feels polished and professional for your website.

Another that's a little more approachable for LinkedIn.

Something with personality for a speaking bio, an article or social media.

And something more formal when the occasion calls for it.

That's why I like creating some range during a headshot session—not just changing your outfit or background, but thinking about the different places these photos might need to show up.

Casey came in needing photos she could use in a few different professional roles, so we intentionally created options that felt like *her*, but weren't all saying exactly the same thing.

Because these days, your headshot isn't going to live in one little square on one website.

It's going places.

Might as well give yourself some options.

Over the years I've made a habit of asking my new clients how they've found me. Usually the answer is a mix of "google search" or "you photographed a friend", but when I asked Chance how he found me, he told me that he asked Chat/Claude who was the best headshot photographer is his area and I popped up "as the best" based on reviews & whatever else AI uses to give it's users answers.

As you can imagine, I thought this was super cool! Also, makes me thankful for all the kind reviews, the tags, the content I've shared and all the things that I'm sure have been shared on social media and in group threads. It all adds up as support for my business and lets me help folks like Chance who need a fresh headshot and didn't know I was right in his community!

One more round from Bar Bruno. 🍸

And yes, pun intended.

This is why I love creating a *library* of photos for a business instead of only getting the obvious shots.

The wide photo of the space is important. So is the perfectly plated dish.

But you also need the cocktail being poured. The cheers across the table. The close-up of a drink. The little details and in-between moments that give you something to actually work with when it’s time to market your business.

Because six months from now when you want to promote happy hour, announce an event, update your website or just post something on a random Tuesday, you shouldn't have to wonder, “Do we have a photo for that?”

You should.

And that's always part of what I'm thinking about when I'm photographing a business.

Can't wait to get back into Bar Bruno for round two.

Restaurants aren't just selling food.

They're selling the Friday night reservation. The drink after work. Dinner with friends that turns into staying for another round.

That's what I want photos like these to capture.

Of course we need photos of the food, the cocktails and the space—but I also want the photos that show what it actually feels like to be there.

Hands reaching across the table. Half-finished drinks. Conversation. A table full of food instead of one perfectly styled plate.

Because when someone is deciding where to spend their Friday night, I don't just want them to think, "That looks good."

I want them to think, "I want to be there."

More from Bar Bruno, with one more round coming next.

Bar Bruno — such a cool space.

Honestly, just walking in makes you feel a little cooler than you actually are. ;-)

I photographed these a while back, but they’re too good not to pull out of the archives and share again.

And the timing feels right because we’re getting ready for another round of photos soon.

Consider this Part 1. More Bar Bruno coming...

I get a lot of “I just need one good photo” requests.

And yes—you absolutely need *at least* one good photo of yourself.

But chances are, you actually need several.

Because the same photo that works perfectly for your LinkedIn profile might not be the right one when you’re asked to speak at a conference. Or when you update your website. Write a blog post. Get featured in an article. Author a book. Send over a bio. Promote an event.

Having several great photos of yourself means you’re not scrambling every time someone asks, “Can you send us a photo?”

You already have options.

Different crops. Different expressions. Different levels of formality. Photos that work in different places and for different purposes.

You may only need *one* photo today.

But your business probably needs more than one.

We aimed for a lot of variety this session. Trish wanted some images of her in her *tiny* office, a few headshots outdoors and some filler images in the woods for her website.

THIS is what I mean when I talk about building a photo library for your business. Fine Tuned Performance and I have been creating photos together for the last couple of years. And every time we shoot, we’re not starting over.

We’re adding.

New people. New services. New ideas. New stories. New ways to show what it actually feels like to walk into Fine Tuned.

The result is a library Bobby and his team can pull from constantly.

Need an ad? They have photos.

Newsletter? Photos.

Instagram post or Story? Photos.

Something for the website? Photos.

Want to cover the office walls with your people doing what they do? Yep. Photos for that too.

That’s why I don’t think of a brand session as something you do once and check off your list.

Your business keeps changing. Your marketing keeps changing. What you’re talking about keeps changing.

Over time, your photo library should grow right along with it.

Fine Tuned is one of my favorite examples of what that looks like in real life.
