Obscura interrogates the fashion industry’s fascination with hyper dark skin while simultaneously erasing the lived realities of Black suffering, specifically the ongoing Sudanese plight. The work exposes how darkness is aestheticized, consumed, and celebrated on the surface, yet stripped of its political and humanitarian context. Obscura positions beauty and violence in uneasy proximity, asking who gets seen, who gets ignored, and what it means when visibility exists without accountability.
