Something about fall makes time feel slower the cooler air the cozy colors the way the light shifts just a little softer 🍂✨ It is one of my favorite seasons to photograph because every frame feels warm and full of heart

What I love most are the fleeting details the way a season can change in a blink just like how quickly little ones grow and change These are the moments you will want to hold onto long after the day has passed

What traditions or little rituals make this season feel special for your family?

Some exciting news to share!

Ayèlet Pearl & Steph Lux, Directors of Arts & Education at Ashreynu, are on this year's 36 to Watch list. They are being recognized for their work at Ashreynu, and for bringing Judaism and the arts together both in the neighborhood and across Queens.

Since being part of launching Ashreynu under Rabbi Pearl's direction, they've worked closely with him to create projects like Art & Torah in Astoria Park, MASKIT ArtSpace, Mapping The Text, Purim Around the World, ChanukArt, and the upcoming Bier & Shir, the only Jewish event in June’s Queens Rising.

Ayelet and Stephanie also expanded their ketubah business, made connections with Jewish art organizations throughout the city, and collaborated with Queens organizations, including Queens Memory, to spotlight more Jewish content.

We're so excited for this Ashreynu representation. In even more connections, this photo was taken by Astoria photographer Kim Max (.max.photography) … also of Ashreynu!

Fun - What do you do that makes you laugh out loud, what things are the most fun for you? If you know me I love to have fun, I want to laugh. I want to tell you stories about my experiences, and all my crazy adventures. But more than that I want you to laugh with me, have fun with me, and tell me your crazy stories! Nothing in life should be uncomfortable or not fun. Why would anyone want to spend money or time on something that’s not fun. I want a photo session with me to feel like you’re seeing an old friend. That kind of friend who you haven’t seen in forever but it feels like no time has passed at all. Do you want to waste some time with me? Let’s book a session and I’ll tell you about the time we got strained on the side of the road in Mozambique, or how we almost crossed into Vietnam on a tube.

Perfection - I don’t strive for perfection, but I strive for my ideal of perfection. It’s part of the reason I love ceramics the idea that when something is made with our own hands it can never be truly perfect. So why should we create the idea that our lives are perfect through photos? Do we really always dress in coordinated outfits with everyone’s hair perfectly in place? Maybe you are that family, some days I wish I was that family. Can you share your secret on how to achieve this?
But for those of us that aren’t that family - I want you to stop waiting to feel perfect. Forget about what your roots look like, or how messy your house is. Because in the blink of an eye your little ones will be less than perfect teens. Capture these perfectly imperfect memories now. While everyone can still be bribed with cookies.
