Cricket Hackmann Photography Cricket Hackmann is a fine art photographer specializing in Missouri landscapes.

As a farm wife and mother-of-two, Cricket Hackmann's love of photography began with documenting her children's days...and has expanded to become a means of holding on to a piece of all the beauty that surrounds us. Her goal is to produce vibrant, stunning images of the rural landscapes and close-ups of nature in rural Missouri...with occasional other subjects included as they catch her eye. Cricke

t works daily to learn new ways of honing her skills and improving her art. She uses a DSLR camera as her primary tool to capture an image, and then various software programs, as needed, to transform the image into the desired finished product. As the camera sees with one 'eye' and people see with two, subtle post-production computer work is the way Cricket can creatively bring dimension and depth to the image. It also allows her to convey the emotions felt while at the location where the photograph was taken. One of Cricket's greatest joys is sharing her images -- both in person at art fairs, and online through her website and facebook photography page. Whether face to face or online, she finds no greater artistic pleasure than to see someone 'connect' with one of her photographs. She explains, "As a life-long student, I know there is always much to learn...but the journey is so satisfying!"

Cricket is a juried member of The Best of Missouri Hands, and a charter member of the Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance.

I checked out another Mid-Missouri trail today: The Runge Conservation Area Loop, at the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. The loop is made up of four trails: Towering Oak, Moss Rock Trace, Raccoon Run and Bluestem Ridge. The trails are either paved or covered in ground/packed mulch, which makes them much less affected by recent rains. While the trail surface is easy to navigate, the constant elevation challenged me: lots of switchbacks and long steep hills. But that’s part of the fun, and makes me feel like I’ve been on a hike and not just a walk in the woods! I’d probably rate this trail as moderate, but I’m a novice hiker, your mileage may vary! 😁

Many thanks to the collector from Junction City, Oregon. “Thorncrown Chapel Interior” is one of my favorite images of this chapel: a lovely marriage of the indoors and the wooded world outdoors near Eureka Springs, Arkansas. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!

This image is titled “The View from Snooper’s Rock.” One of the highlights of the Chattanooga/Lookout Mountain trip was finding Snooper’s Rock. Located in the Prentice Cooper National Wildlife Area. I drove down about 5 miles of a gravel road, and just about where the road narrowed to one lane, I found a small parking area. Parked there, and hiked about 100 yards, and then stepped through an opening in the trees, to this amazing vista. Easily spent a couple hours here, just drinking in the view. The Tennessee River winds its way through the valley below. I’ve read that Snooper’s Rock got its name during Prohibition, when revenuers (law enforcement) would use it to look for signs of moonshine stills in the area.
