“Resistance” - Visions Reframed, Expressionism, 2026

For this piece inspired by the Expressionist era, I wanted emotion to take priority over beauty. The fabric first acts as a source of comfort, but leads to confinement. The wind becomes a force of resistance, and the double exposures reflect the tension of struggling against something both external and internal. Even once the struggle is seemingly over, it still occupies the mind.

Expressionism often communicates through distortion, exaggeration, and raw emotion. I wanted to reinterpret that visual language through movement, restraint, and absence. By removing color entirely, the emotion feels amplified. Without color directing the eye, attention shifts toward tension, motion, and the quieter details hidden within the struggle.
